Ellen Jameson sang a solo in Icelandic, and Frances Johnson, two selections. Other numbers were by the girls' chorus, a color ceremony by Utah National Guard, and prayer by William C. Beckstrom. SPANISH FORK More than 100 costumed characters took part in dedicating Icelandic monument here Monday before thousands of spectators. The monument commemorates the first permanent Icelandic settlement set-tlement in America, and was sponsored by Camp Mt. Flonette, Daughters of Utah Pioneers. It is on highway 50 at Third South and Eight East. Among the distinguished visitors visit-ors was Mrs. Mary Sherwood, Le-van, Le-van, only surviving member of the Icelandic pioneers, who came as a babe in arms with her parents par-ents to Spanish Fork. Jarvis, a direct descendant of each family fam-ily rose, marching as the sketch concluded to the monument where Mrs. Ruby Dedrickson James and Delia Bearnson, descendants of the first two settlers, unveiled a plaque bearing names of the original orig-inal pioneers. , A chorus of young women attired at-tired in Icelandic national festival and bridal costumes accompanied with a chorus of ' Utah, We Love Thee." Preceeding the program a pageant pag-eant was presented featuring Frances Johnson and County Commissioner Com-missioner William J.
