He came to Springville as small boy with his widowed her who had been converted to L. D. S. church. He has lived greater of 'his life in Spring-e Spring-e and has been one of the -t highly respected and suc-ful suc-ful farmers in this vicinity, retired several years ago. Mrs. Finley was one of the ;t school teachers in this comity. com-ity. She also served on the -ly day school board. For sev-J sev-J years she was president of ; Springville Red Cross and is :e chairman of the present or-nization. or-nization. She was at one time sldent of ,the Ladies' Republi-.-. club here and is an honorary mber of the Home Culture club, e is a member of the Utah inty board of Daughters of ih Pioneers and a member of ; Springville camp D. TJ. P. She was especially active in the A to have the poplar tree, pio-?r pio-?r land mark, near the Third rd preserverd and appropriately rked. She also assisted in hav-; hav-; the pioneer mother monu-nt, monu-nt, by Cyrus E. Dallin, placed j the city park. Mrs. Finley is compiling a detailed and au- -ntic account of events in the i tlement of Springville from "'0 to the present day. , Hie couple are parents of eight tig children as follows: John y, Olympia, Wash.; Mrs. na Roylance, Mrs. Lydia Pal-yman, Pal-yman, Mrs. Eva Hanson, Misses isie and May Finley, Arthur Hey and Mrs. Bert Groesbeck, of Springville. They also have grandchildren and 10 great ndchildren. |
