Salisbury, cashier of the Springville Banking company, and president of the Utah State Bankers' Bank-ers' association, left Tuesday night for Portland, Oregon to attend the regional convention .of bankers. Ha plans to return, the latter part of the week, the last meeting of the convention being scheduled or Friday afternoon. A large attendance of Bee Hive girls and Boy Scouts of the Kolob stake wards were in attendance at a joint meeting Tuesday night at the Third ward, where Professor Vasco M. Tanner of the Brigham Young university, Provo, gave a talk on "Wild Bird Life in Utah," and showed moving picture slides of birds and their habits. Mrs. Emma D. Gardner review-eel review-eel the book, "Merry Wives of Windsor," at the preliminary program pro-gram of the Fourth ward M. I. A. Tuesday night. An especially enjoyable dance and social was held under direction direc-tion of the Fourth ward Elder's quorum last Wednesday night, at the ward amusement hall. From those in attendance a committee was selected to sponsor another entertainment on Wednesday, March 3. As a part of the WPA recreational recrea-tional project work, a marksmanship marksman-ship contest is being held each afternoon at Memorial hall, announces an-nounces Glenn Brown in charge. Last Saturday afternoon, Freeborn Free-born Merrill, li, won first place with a score of 80 points; Max Measom, second with a score of 71. and Jay Thorpe, 13, with a score of 48, won third place. Everyone is invited to attend these contests w'hich are proving especially interesting, to the young people. The high school dramatic department de-partment has selected "Huckleberry "Huckle-berry Finn" for their annual offering, of-fering, to be presented March 12, under the direction of Mrs. Wilma Young. The cast includes Louise Miller, Elaine Brockbank, Dama Grant, Robert Cranmer, Naomi Weight, Lois Whiting, Mildred Parry, Eli Tippetts, Glenn Law; and Dean Mendenhall. Wm. Parry Home Realty is now located one door south of the Kivoli theater where he will be lad to serve you. There will be a meeting of the Mill Pond Springs Irrigation company com-pany Saturday, at 7:30 p. m., in 'he public library, according to announcement by Secretary G. V. Sumsion. A financial report for the past year will be given and the election of directors will be held. A large group of church workers work-ers are planning to attend the Salt Lake temple excursion on Friday, according to announcement announce-ment of officers of the various organizations. |
