Harmon and sons who are visiting here from Chicago, Chica-go, Mrs. A. C. Bird entertained at a nicely arranged family dinner din-ner at her home on Sunday. Covers Cov-ers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Goates and son Richard of Salt Lake City, W. N. Grooms and family, and Mrs. Harmon and sons William B. and John. A miscellaneous shower was given by the Misses Marie and Virginia Simkins and Miss Mary Boyer at the Simkins home Saturday Sat-urday evening in honor of Miss Marie Bartholomew, a recent bride. A feature of the enter-, tninment was the reading, "The Birthday of Infanta" given by Miss Dama Grant. Later games including neighbors, friends and relatives attended. The bride received re-ceived many lovely gifts. Miss Louise Patrick, who left Monday for the mission school, was guest of honor at a party given by the Misses Bernice Pal-freyman, Pal-freyman, Aleen Condie, Beth Miller Mil-ler and Martha Bi-U at the Pal- freyman home on Friday night. The Kroup enjoyed progressive Anagram and a tasty lunch. The puests of honor was also presented present-ed with a lovely assortment of useful gifts. Thoe in attendance were: Vera Wheeler, Dorothy Weight, Sarah Marie Binks, Betty Louise Buyer, Evan Baker Johnson. Gene inlock, Verl Thompson of Provo; Frances Brimhall Monson of Provo, Ruth Baxter ,the guest of honor and the hostesses. Mrs. J- R. Harmon and two sons. William B., and John Harmon of Chicago, 111., are spending a month with Mrs. Harmon's Har-mon's mother, Mrs. A. C. Bird, and other relatives and friends here. The Misses Vera Wheeler, Tess Taylor and Fern Blackett spent the past week on a camping trip in HAble Creek canyon. Mrs. Richard Huntington and Mrs. John Burt spent several days of the past week at Ely, Nevada, where their husbands are employed em-ployed on construction work. Mrs. J. Emmett Bird left Wednesday Wed-nesday on a two weeks' trip to California. She plans to visit relatives rela-tives at Anaheim, Santa Ana and Garden Grove, Calif. Mr. Bird is planning now- to meet Mrs. Bird in California in about two weeks for a short vacation. , Tuesday night prior to her leaving to work in Salt Lake CUy. Included In-cluded in the party were Bernice Palfreyman, Martha Bird, Beth Miller, Tess Taylor, lone Averett, Alene Condie and Vera Wheeler. Miss Ruth Crandall has returned return-ed from a dclig'htful five weeks' vacation in Idaho and the northwest. north-west. She visited about a week with her sister, Mrs. Josephine Young and family at Salmon, Idaho, and then took a trip to Seaside, Oregon, and spent some time in Seattle, Wash. A lovely birthday party was given by Miss Nell Weight Tuesday Tues-day afternoon, for her little niece, Myrna Lee, daughter of 'Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight, who was three years old. Following a period per-iod of games, the little guests were seated at small tables artistically artis-tically decorated with the season's flowers and a dainty lunch was served. Miss Cleo Pierce brought her famous doll Rosabell, to the party and entertained the group with stories of her life. Other distinguished guests included four grandmothers of the honored guest's seven living grandparents. A pretty and uniquely arranged party for Novelty Circle members was held at the home of Miss Marjorie Child. Hawaiian decorations decora-tions were carried out in the rooms and at the luncheon tables. Miss Venice Whiting entertained the group with stories of her recent re-cent trip to Europe. Twenty-five little friends were entertained by Mrs. Warren Beardall at a birthday party for her little daughter, Bonnie, on Saturday afternoon. Pleasant, the guests of honor and the hostess. Al Combs, engineer from radio station KFSO at San Francisco, Calif., has been the guest this week of Gene Baker at his home here. Parker, who with her small son returned Friday to their home in Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Thomas L. Swartz entertained at an annual get-together of old friends at her home on Wednesday night.
