Show j Local Ray Alleman, a former resident resi-dent of this city, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alleman, has recently recent-ly been appointed assistant professor pro-fessor of physics at St. Johns college, Annapolis, Md.., according to word received through the Evening Capitol News of that city. Mr. Alleman who received his A B., and master's degrees from the B. Y. U. in 1933 and 1934, respectively, has been junior instructor in-structor in physics at the John Hopkins university, the past year. At the Sunday night meeting in the Second ward, presided over by the stake presidency, Clifford Crandall was sustained a member of the bishopric succeeding Far-rell Far-rell Hatch, who resigned from the position recently. Kenneth Hales, 36, of this city, is recovering from an accidental gunshot wound suffered while loading a gun in the canyon east of Springville last Sunday. The charge entered the groin region and came out through the hip. He was taken to the Payson hospital hos-pital for treatment. The Springville fire department were commended Wednesday for its record run in response to an alarm from Thistle. Tuesday night. According to report, the local department de-partment made the 14-mile run in 14 minutes, arriving in time to assist with extinguishing a fire which treatened a house, garage and service station. The blaze is thought to have started from spontaneous combustion near an abandoned . lumber retaining re-taining wall. Harvesting of a large crop of peaches in this vicinity will get under way the latter part of this week and early next week, growers grow-ers report. The peak of the harvest har-vest will be reached in about ten days. Most of the crop is being shipped on consignment. A new street extending from Sixth South east to Fourth East, has been opened the past week and will soon be in condition for travel. The new roadway will shorten the distance considerably from Fourth East to Main street. Miss Verona Condie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Condie. underwent an operation for appendicitis ap-pendicitis at the Star Valley hospital. hos-pital. Afton, Wyo., Sunday. She is recovering nicely, according to report. Miss Condie has been doing do-ing nurse's work at the hospital several weeks. |
