Show SOCIETY NEWS Mrs. Lucy Robertson of this city was honor guest at a delightful delight-ful open house social for her many friends and relatives Thursday Thurs-day afternoon at -the home of Mr. and Mrs. .Hilton .A. Robertson,, the occasion being her seventieth !birthday anniversary. In the evening eve-ning her immediate family also gave a party in her honor. and Mrs.. William B. Allan of Mapleton. Miss Naomi Thorn was hostess to the members of her club at a Christmas social at her home Wednesday. An enjoyable program pro-gram was given with a Christmas story by Mrs. Mabel Wright; a song by Jackie Evans; a reading by Venice Whiting,' and. Christmas sentiments by Mrs. Maurine Raymond. Ray-mond. Following the program a tasty lunch was served and gifts exchanged among the following" Mrs. Mabel Childs, Mrs. Florence Nelson,. Mrs. Lucille Childs, Mrs. Fay Haymond, Mrs. Lucille Hughes, Mrs. Marjorie Johnson, Mrs. Elaine Parcell, Mrs. Helen Sanford, Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Haymond Hay-mond and the hostess. The club will give a party New Year's eve for their nus'oands, at the home i of Mrs. Lucille Childs. Mrs. .Robertson was born in Springville a daughter of William and Polly , Perry Smith. She has lived here always taking an active part in community and church affairs. af-fairs. She married Alexander Robertson in the Logan temple iJuly 3, 1884. Mr. Robertson . died in 1923. She has eight , children, all of whom attended the birthday celebration. They are Mrs- ftetta !Harmer, Mrs, , Mattie Crandall, Mrs. Bell Houtz, Mrs. Zina Met-calf, Met-calf, -Hilton A., Leo, and Bernard Robertson, Springville and Mrs. Jessie Wadley of Pleasant Grove. A group of about 50 high school music students were in Salt Lake one day last week to hear Grace Moore sing. The students gave a brief program over KSL and visited numerous places of interest in the city. Besides a number of faculty members, Mrs. J. M., Sumsion, Mrs. W. W. Clyde, and Mrs. J. F. Wingate accompanied accom-panied the group. Mr.' and Mrs. Arch V. Combs and two children came here from Hershey, Nebraska, Tuesday i to attend funeral services for Mrs. Combs' mother, Mrs. Emma A. Bryan, Friday. The Ladies' Literary club mem-1 bers were guests of Mrs. Rea Straw at their Christmas party Thursday night. Progressive Monte Carlo Whist featured the entertainment with high score prize won by Mrs. Lela Packard and the consolation by Mrs. Emma Jacobsen. Preceeding the games an attractive and .tasty .luncheon was served, tables and room decorations dec-orations being carried out in holiday, holi-day, colors and motifs. Music was given by Anna Miner and Melba Johnson. Near . the close of the party Santa Claus appeared and after reading letters from all present distributed a gift to each. In attendance were fourteen members mem-bers and three guests. Mrs. Mary Oakes left Saturday in company, with Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Aird for a visit with friends in California. Over a hundred commercial class students of the high school were entertained at a Christmas social Thursday night. Miss Fern Bate and Miss Madelyn Harrison are instructors. Mrs. Mildred Boorman, Mrs Ida Hoffman and Mrs. Vera Peruana, Per-uana, were guests Wednesday afternoon aft-ernoon at a preholiday party given by Mrs. H. E. Urquhart, worthy matron of Valley Chapter No. 3, O. E. S., and a former resident of this city, in honor of the officers of the organization. The S. T. club members held their annual . Christmas party Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Ora Rowland. A pleasant time was spent with progressive bridge, after which a tasty and attractive luncheon carrying out the holiday color scheme was served to Mrs. Lee Sumsion, Mrs. Lewrs clegg, Mrs. Leon Harrison, Mrs. Bert Rowland, Mrs. Harry Pennington, Mrs. J. W. Grant, Mrs. George Crandall, Mrs. Hugh Baxter, Mrs. Will Clark, . members, mem-bers, and Mrs. Bill Hansen, Mrs. Floss Phillips and Mrs. Mary Clegg. High score favor was awarded to Mrs. Hazel Harrison. At the close of the party gifts were exchanged. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Garn Johnson were in Salt Lake Friday to attend funeral services for Mrs. Johnson's brother Symon Adamson who died Tuesday. Announcement is made of the recent marriage of Miss Bernice Evans of this city to Frederick Gideon Allan of Mapleton which took place at Lake Shore, the cererhony being performed by Bishop Thomas Anderson, uncle of the bride. Mrs. Allan is a daughter of William Evans of this city, and the groom a son of Mr. |
