Show Amendment No. 1 May Carry Utah By Late Returns SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 15 (U.H) Although returns were not yet complete, it appeared today as though Constitutional Amendment Amend-ment No. 1, whiqh called for establishment es-tablishment of a uniform school fund for expansion of state school aid, had been approved by voters at the general election a week ago. The amendment appeared to have a favorable majority of approximately ap-proximately 2000 votes with the count nearly complete. Election districts which had not reported were in rural counties in which partial returns showed an overwhelming over-whelming favorable vote. The measure was designed to benefit particularly the state's rural schools. Salt Lake county, most populous in the state, voted against the measure by 2 V4 to 1, i but the vote . in other counties more than balanced this trend. Constitutional Amendments No. 2 and 3 apparently were defeated, j Amendment No. 2 was a com- j panion to the successful No. 1, while No. 3 would give the legislature legis-lature to adjust hours of labor on public works. |
