Show Jews, Catholics View More Wrath During Funeral . BERLIN, Nov. 16 (U.Ei Fear gripped Jews in Germany tonight that tomorrow's funeral of Dussel-dorf Dussel-dorf of Ernest Von Rath, slain attache of the Germany embassy in Paris, may lead to more punishing pun-ishing decrees and a revival of anti-semitic violence. American Jews being relatively few in Germany, Jews were not comforted by formal representa-, tions made by the United States embassy to the German government govern-ment yeterday regarding compensation compen-sation for damage to property of American Jews.- Jews in Berlin and elsewhere were taking refuge in the homes of foreigners. The United States representation, representa-tion, like those of Great Britain, were embodied in a note which reserved re-served all rights, including collection collec-tion of damages. The fury of press attackks increased in-creased today. There was further evidence that the Roman Catholic church may be the next target of restrictive measures. This was forecast by Das Schwarze Korps, organ of the storm troopers, which said that the "mirally corrupt, unpatriotic and criminal clergy fs neither willing nor able to administer admin-ister wealth belonging to the German Ger-man nation." It suggested that works of arta, owned by the church, should be seized and sold to foreigners, asserting as-serting that the clergy "will lose nothing to which they have the slightest legal claim." At no time since the current tnti-semitic drive began had the Nazi press reached such a pitch of anger. |
