Show Local I . Stanley E. Pcay of Provo, is recovering from injuries received receiv-ed in a gun accident during the pheasant hunting season. He was in company with Harry MfcCord also of Provo. Mrs. Pcay was the former Virginia Childs of this city. Mrs. B. M. Mendcnhall left Tuesday for St. Mark's 'hospital, Salt Lake City, to undergo a major operation on her eye. She planned to have the operation performed per-formed Wednesday, and will be confined to the hospital for some time. A misprint in last week's Herald Her-ald gave Peter Nielson 81 votes to John Frandscn, his Democratic opponent's 772. Mr. Nielson polled 581 against Mr. Frandsen, instead m S1 Don Blanchard is enrolled among the University of Utah students 'having made a place on the football team. He had previously pre-viously enlisted tq play for the U S A. C. at Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard are now residing in Salt Lake City. Beverly Mdner, 15, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Alma Miner., is convalescing from a recent appendicitis appen-dicitis operation performed at Dr. George A. Anderson's hospital. hos-pital. .... Hal M. There will be a big dance for the public on Tuesday night, Nov. 22 at Memorial hall, with music furnished by Ralph Miglaccio and his Chicago orchestra. Season tickets will be honored at the dance. The dance last Saturday night was termed a huge success by the large crowd in attendance. The style show presented by a number of B. Y. U. co-eds., was one of the most attractive of its kind held here. Everyone had an enjoyable time. , The American Legion auxiliary will entertain at a public card party at i.iu p. m., aaiuiuoj, -Memorial hall, announces President Presi-dent Hazel Roylance. a nicely arranged luncheon and various games to please everyone with prizes awarded the winners, will, be given. Tickets may be secured from members or at the door. The D. U. P. camp Kolob will meet at the home of Mts. J. Em-mett Em-mett Bird on Thursday at 3 p.m., instead of with Mrs. G. L. Beard-all, Beard-all, as was previously arranged. The time has been changed due to the Tew funeral in the First ward that afternoon. . Mapleton Primary held a conference con-ference last Sunday night, with a large number, of parents attending. at-tending. An excellent program was given by the children, under the direction of President Marie Whiting and other officers and teachers. PROVO, Utah (Special to the Springville Herald) Lowell Crandall Cran-dall of Springville, was one of the six student representatives of Brigham Young university . who attended the southwestern district dis-trict convention of Alpha Kappa Psi, national professional commerce com-merce fraternity, held recently in Los Angeles. These students were guests of the University of California and the University of Southern California Cali-fornia while "at the- convention. They report that the weather, sightseeing and hospitality were excellent, and that the convention conven-tion was very educational. A new type . reading was introduced in-troduced by Miss Park, speech instructor of the Springville high school, last session of conference. It is a type of reading wnere several sev-eral people strive to blend their voices as one. This reading was first introduced at Payson and proved very popular and so was introduced in Springville, where it proved even more popular. The following people were chosen- by Miss Park and other officials, for their fine speaking voices to participate in the reading: read-ing: Venice Whiting, Elaine Brockbank, Jettie Jacob, Fern Simkins, Beulah Whiting, Edna Wiscome, John Patrick, John Holley Mrs. Ray Colton, Mrs. Paul Thorn.' The Fourth ward elders arc sponsoring a dance club. The first dance- will be held in the Fourth ward hall on Saturday, November 19, at 9 p. m. |
