Show RODEO WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED Some of the best bronc riding;, cnlf toping1, bulldozing and wild Brahmfi steer riding- ever Keen in these parts took place iit the Mona rodeo Saturday ;i nd Sun-tiny. Sun-tiny. The rodeo was the first of a series to be staged in Utah and Jdnho this season by Jack Dew, Spring ville rodeo producer and livestock contractor. The Mona rodeo attracted a string- of noted riders all over the west. Some excitement which wasn't scheduled occurred Sunday morn- ing before the crowd arrived when some of the Brahma steers got out of the corrals and one wilder than the rest ran down across the grounds, jumped into the swimming pool and -jumped out j at the other end where the water is seven feet deep, crossed several I lawns and ran in to the state highway. Two cowboys chased the Brahma and one of them throwing a neat loop around its nose, brought the animal under subjection. The finals in the various events are as follows: Bronc riding First, Doff Aber; second, Lee Edmo of Fort Hall, Idaho; and third, Floyd Stillings of Cody, Wyoming. Bulldogging First, Harry Hart; Dave Campbell, second and third, Oral Zumwalt. Harry Hart wen second place in the calf roping rop-ing at Madison Square Garden in October 1935. Calf roping First, Howard Westfall; second, Rufus Ingersoll and third, Leo Edmo. The judges were: "Matt" Cropper Crop-per of Deseret, Utah, who hurt his knee at Las Vegas rodeo and could not compete at Mona, and Dave Campbell of California. The next rodeo in this vicinity will be the Strawberry day one-day one-day show at Pleasant Grove. |
