Show WORK RELIEF SETUP PLANNED Tt is planned to launch a work relief program in Kolob stake soon, according to plans outlined at a recent meeting of the stake presidency with stake relief society so-ciety board members, ward bishoprics bish-oprics and members of the high council. President J. Emmett Bird in charge of the meeting, reported on various plans of church relief re-lief being carried out in other stakes. He suggested that a community com-munity store house in which commodities com-modities either purchased or contributed, con-tributed, might be stored, and later distributed among the needy, would "probably work 'out in this vicinity. He especially stressed the peit that where heads of families were ab! to work, no relief re-lief would be given without some form of service in return, should the work relief plan be carried out. President Bird, at the meeting, also explained a proposition where by an interchange of commodities between nearby stakes might be effectively worked out. "While there is no one, on account of lack of work, directly in need at the present time in this vicinity, we can not determine just how long federal aid will continue and when it ceases to operate, the church must be able to meet the situation," situa-tion," President Bird said. The work relief plan is suggested sug-gested by the heads of the church and must be worked out to conform con-form with conditions in the various var-ious sections, it is stated. Alle-man Alle-man was appointed chairman of the committee with instructions to report on the proposition and the plans in about 30 days. |
