Show Famous Inventor flarconi Dies of Eleart Paralysis ROME, July 20 ll.R Guglielmo Marconi, whose genius gave wireless wire-less communication to the world, died today of heart disease. Radio, w'hich he developed and helped perfect, carried to the far corners of the earth, and to ships at sea, the news of the death of one of the great men of this age. Because of him continents and nations have been brought within seconds of one another and man's voice circles the earth with the speed of light. Though a man 01 science and of peace, he wrought greater changes in the lives of more millions of men than Lenin, Mussolini, and other political revolutionists of his generation. He died of a heart attack at 3:45 a. m. He was 63 years old. Marconi had been suffering heart attacks in increasing frequency fre-quency and intensity since April. He became ill yesterday .afternoon. .after-noon. Clear To Last The precise cause of Marconi's death was diagnosed by Dr. Cesare Frugoni, who attended his last moments, as heart paralysis. The scientist's mind was clear and lucid, to the last. Mussolini, one of the first mourners to reach the bier, was one of his most ardent admirers, but admiration of the little man transcended all creeds and all national borders. |
