Show SOCIETY NEVS Members of the Jovelty clut were delightfully entertained last Friday night, at the home of Mrs. Theo Phillips in Provo. Following a delicious luncheon in which an attractive color scheme suggestive of Easter was used, four tables of bridge, were played. High score for the games went to Mrs. Mabel Simkins and Mrs. Sarabell Stewart Stew-art received second favor. The next club meeting is scheduled for Friday April 12 at the home of Mrs. Simkins. ... Members of the Ladies' Literary club and their husbands were entertained en-tertained with a progressive carnival car-nival party Saturday night. The group dressed as rubes and mis-tits, mis-tits, assembled at the home of Mrs. Bert Groesbeck early in the evening where the first course of a carnival supper and games suggestive sug-gestive of the occasion were held. Later at the home of Mrs. Glenn Sumsion the second course with balloon and marble games was enjoyed. en-joyed. Next at tne home of Mrs. .i-aCelle Sumsion the carnival Spirit was continued with shooting shoot-ing games after which "Alexander" "Alexan-der" appeared and from a crystal anwsered questions asked by individuals in-dividuals early in the evening. Refreshments Re-freshments typical of the carnival were servea. The party was concluded con-cluded at the home of Mrs. W. H. Brown where freak and side show booths were visited in connection con-nection with carnival games and refreshments. Present were: Mr. and Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson, Mr. and Mrs.. J. Y. Packard, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Groesbeck, Groes-beck, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sumsion, Sum-sion, Mr. and Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion Sum-sion and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Brown. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Richmond and daughter Carol have returned to their home in Salt Lake City following a visit here with Mrs. Richmond's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Blanchard. They have just returned from a two weeks' visit with Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Pulsipher, Pul-sipher, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Blanchard Blanch-ard and other relatives in Denver, Den-ver, Colorado. John Robertson, custodian at the Washington' school, Friday night was delightfully surprised with a party given by a number of pupils of the school. Games, music and lunch were enjoyed by all. In attendance were Vera Bartholomew, Enid Ewing, Dixie Gabbitas, Jane Wainwright, Betty Blanchard, Betty Cranmer, Leon-ore Leon-ore Allan, Erma and Elma Patrick, Pat-rick, Norma Roylance, Josephine Ecker, Mildred Miller, LaDean Bulkley, NaDean Child, Lconore Weight. An enjoyable time was spent by a group of friends last. Saturday Satur-day night when they surprised Keith Kennedy at his home. The party was given by Mrs. Kennedy assisted by her daughters Gale and Edna and was in honor of Keith's birthday. Progressive "cootie" and 500 furnished entertainment enter-tainment with prizes for the former form-er games going, to Glenn Law, Phylis Smart, Olive Marie Nielson and Dale Hardy and for 500 to Lucille Jacobs, Robert Cranmer, Cran-mer, Beth Mendenhall and Jack Clark. A dainty luncheon concluded con-cluded the party. A beautiful birthday cake, Easter favors and daffodils were employed in an attractive green and yellow color scheme. There were present, 1 Olive Marie Nielson, Edith Hardy, Orpha York of Spanish Fork, Lucille Jacobs, Phylis Smart, Naomi Pierce, Marjorie Child, Douglas Brown, Dale Hardy, Robert Rob-ert Cranmer, Jack Clark, Russell Laney, Glen Law, Theon Laney and Keith Kennedy. Mrs. Joe Briers of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Ed Tiguc of Mammoth Mam-moth are spending this week with their mother, Mrs. William Humphrey and other relatives here. Members of Springville "Camp D. U. P. have changed their meeting meet-ing place from the home of Mrs. Ella Crandall to that of Mrs. Lela Sumsion on Thursday, April 9. All members are urged to be present. Camp Aaron Johnson D. U. P. will meet next Thursday afternoon, after-noon, April 16, at Relic hall, Mrs. J. M. Brown, captain announces. The meeting will feature the election elec-tion of officers in connection with the regular program. All members arc urgently invited to be present. Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson was hostess to members of the Alpha Beta club at her home Friday afternoon. "Skyscraper City," a story and poems by Carl Sandberg were given by Miss Marian Miner. A paper on "Factories" by Margaret Mar-garet Widdemer was given by Mrs. H. M. Weight. A poem "Every Woman's Gift" was read by Mrs. M. R. Straw. A brief outline of the life of O'Henry and one of his stories was read by Mrs. Emil Ostlund. "The Ginger Eread Bear" was sung by Norma Brockbank. accompanied at the piano by Mrs. VV. W. Brockbank. A dainty luncheon was served to 19 members and two guests, Marion Mar-ion Miner and Mrs. Henry May-lette May-lette of Manti. The club breakfast break-fast will be at the home of Mrs. M. R. Straw, Friday April 10 at one o'clock in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ostlund, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Brockbank and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boyer attended at-tended a midnight preview at the Orpheum theater in Salt Lake City Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. .Sherman Nelson of this city entertained at dinner at their home Tuesday night for a number of relatives and friends. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lindley and son, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson and son Dick and daughter Helen, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nelson and Jack Simonson al lof Provo, and Mrs. Frank Bringhurst, Springville. Mrs. Mabel Wright was hostess to members of the June Merc club at her home last Wednesday evening. eve-ning. A feature of the entertainment entertain-ment was a review of the book, "The Outcast,'' by Luigi Pirandello, Piran-dello, given by Mrs. Blanch Beal, and especially enjoyed by all. A nicely arranged lunch was served early in the evening to the following follow-ing guests: Mrs. Mamie Blackett. Mrs. Almina Madsen, Mrs. Nell Alleman, Mrs. Eunice McKenzie, Mrs. Emily Miner.
