Show I , Local Several Springville genealogical workers are intending to attend the classes in genealogy to be given each Wednesday by Archibald Archi-bald F. Bennett in the Genealogical Genealogi-cal building, Salt Lake City. The classes meet from 10:30 a. m. until noon. The Orem iine has consented to give those who attend the benefit bene-fit of the usual Temple Workers' rates on the first regular train from stations between Payson and Lehi inclusive, to Salt Lake City and relurn on any regular train the same day. The last class for this year will be on Dec. 16 and will be resumed on January 6th. Those who make the trip have an opportunity to spend the afternoon after-noon in the genealogical library, I attend the five o'clock session in the temple and return home on the ten o'clock train. J. B. Sumsion of this city was the principal speaker at the Second Sec-ond L. D. S. ward at Murray Sunday Sun-day night. John Hardy of this city and Vigo Christianson of Provo furnished musical numbers at the meeting. Mr. Sumsion with these same music numbers will give a program at Moroni this Sunday evening. Regular practices for basketball has begun at the high school with the completion of the football season. The class series are being played off begining this week. Only three lettermen, Erie Boor-man Boor-man Lawrence Rowland and Bert Cherrington are back this year, but around these three Coach Carl Davis hopes to build a strong aggregation. ag-gregation. An estimated 4000 turkeys were raised in this community and Mapleton this year. Of this number num-ber about 2500 were shipped for the Thanksgiving market and the remainder will be marketed shortly short-ly before Christmas. PROVO Howard McKenzie of Springville was selected by the Junior class of Brigham Young university to compete in the election elec-tion for Junior prom chairman with George Killian of Orangeville at the regular class meeting on Monday. These two men. out of a field of six, will now appear befoie he entire student body this week for final selection, the dinner receiving re-ceiving not only the honor of ch u-man u-man of the junior prom but also the position of president of the student body for 1937-38 at BJ.U Keenest interest was taken by the juniors in the election, each of the six candidates appearing before them on Monday pnor the class vote being taken. Mr. McKenzie was the last speaker, aTd he 'topped" the poll when the counting was all done. |
