Show POSSE TRAILS GiRLSSLAYER FRESNO, Cal., Nov. 26 U.P Deputy sheriffs said today that dogs, taking up a scent at the home where 14-ycar-old Mary Stammer was murdered, followed a trail directly to the back yard of a house in the outskirts. It was reported a .22 caliber rifle, believed to be the weapon with which the girl was shot, was found in this house. Deputies, however, refused to confirm or deny the report. Deputies said the house where the dogs led them was the home of a 22-year-old youth who was being sought for questioning. Sheriff George Overholt, playing play-ing a leading part in running down the crime, was out of town. It. was reported he was on the track of an important clue expected to lead to arrest of the murderer. Lynch talk became intensified throughout the city, especially as the hour aproached for the funeral fu-neral of (he murder victim, daughter daugh-ter of Walter H. Stammer, prominent promi-nent Fresno attorney, one time president of the state bar. The funeral was to be held from St. James Episcopal church. |
