Show Work Begun On Art Building f.- Work began Saturday on the 79,868 art building which is to be erected here, through a federal grant of $54,000 and a local contribution con-tribution of $25,000. Announcement Announce-ment of the certain erection of the art building here, consumated a cherished hope of long standing, by art patrons and other citizens of the community. With the completion com-pletion of the building ample space will be provided for the hanging of the now famous permanent collection of the high school, hi addition to the holding of the annual an-nual national art show. The building plans also provides for a small auditorium and class rooms in which art classes may be taught. Through the efforts of the art committee the building has been made possible without a considerable consider-able outlay from the city. Liberal contributions from the church, the Nebo school district board, President Presi-dent Heber J. Grant and others have aided materially to finance the project. Other sources will also be contacted for financial assistance, as-sistance, it is stated. The building build-ing when completed will be one that cities of much larger proportions pro-portions than Springville, would be proud to own, aside from the valuable art collection which it will house. The building may possibly be completed in March, WPA officers offi-cers stated, and it is hojted that the fifteenth annual art show may be held in it the following month. |
