Show UNDERPASSES ARE ACCEPTED AS STATE ROAD Formal acceptance of the slate road project just completed by Strong and Grant, local contractors, contract-ors, near Eighth South street has been made following an inspection of the work by state road commissioners com-missioners and representatives of the bureau of public roads, Tuesday. Tues-day. The contract for the project, which, included construction of two railroad underpasses and an overhead crossing, together with 1.2 miles of highway, was let last December. The work was completed com-pleted before schedule, it is stated. The project is said to be the largest piece of grade separation work done by the state road commission, this year. Funds for the work were alloted from the 1934 federal aid allotment. The new work eliminates the danger of three railroad crossings by directing traffic under the Denver Den-ver and Rio Grande western railroad rail-road track and those of the Utah railway. At the south end, the road passes over the tracks of the Salt Lake and Utah line on an overhead crossing. The bridges on the project cost the state, under the contract price, nearly $90,000 while the highway construction, which involved heavy fills together with pavement and sidewalk construction cost a little less than $72,000. |
