SOCIETY Daughters of Pioneers Camp Springville, were delightfully entertained en-tertained last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ella Reynolds. Rey-nolds. Mrs. Birdella Bearnson, Mrs. Memette Bird, Mrs. Martha Alle-man, Alle-man, Mrs. Reba Reynolds and Mrs. Hattie Smith were assisting assist-ing hostesses. A history of John W. Hess, given by Mrs. Dorothy Smith and the lesson by Mrs. j Mary J. Finley on "Pioneer! Books," featured the program, to- j gether with a vocal solo by LaVar Davies and selections from the j junior high school chorus, di rected by Miss Helen Palfreyman. At the close of the program refreshments re-freshments were served by 'the hostess. Captain Lela Sumsion waj in charge of the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Masters and family came from Bingham to attend the funeral service for S. L. Mendenhall on Sunday. They were guests of Mrs. Sarah Palfreyman Pal-freyman and family here. A nicely arranged birthday par-ty par-ty was given by Mrs. Lee E. Davis ' Friday afternoon for her son Ted, who was eight years old. Games, music and lunch featured the occasion oc-casion with valentine decorations and other- motifs carried out. Guests" in attendance were Ronald Stewart, Elizabeth Walker, Russell Rus-sell Palfreyman, Jane Huntington, Robert Whiting, Jane Cherrington, Keith Barton, Shirley Allen, Quinn Hutchinson, Carolyn Whiting, Whit-ing, Wendell Averett, Norma Barton, Bar-ton, Paul Allen, Elva Davis, Glenn Davis, Barbara Kellcy, Kenneth Long, Anna Whiting, Mat Robertson, Rob-ertson, Ray Clegg, Dick Wight-man, Wight-man, Dale Reynolds. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn accompanied ac-companied by Mr. and Mrs. John Whiting left recently on a short vacation trip to California. They will visit Mr. and Mrs. Vern Bird and other relatives ana friends. Among the interesting club meetings of the past week was that of the Mothers' Study, held , I at the home of Mrs. Ella Rey- nolds, Friday afternoon. President M;iude Thorn was in charge. A patriotic theme was carried out during the prog; am with a well given talk on "Patriotism," by Professor B. F. Cummings of the Brigham Young university, Provo. Club members answered roll call with Lincoln quotations and Mrs. Rena Roylance gave Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. The club also sang patriotic selections at the beginning and at the close of the meeting. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess to thirty-four thirty-four members and guests in at-1 at-1 tendance. j Mrs. A. E. Miss Louise Russell of Springville, Spring-ville, shares the honor with 20 other members of the Em Anon social unit for having unitedly attained at-tained the highest average scholarship schol-arship rating among all social units at Brigham Young university univer-sity during the autumn quarter. Last year this record was held by one of the men's units.
