Show Wefeb Seis Record !n Winning Cross Country In 12:42 Running the 2.6 miles course in record breaking time, Buster Webb, sophomore distance runner. Saturday chalked up his second successive triumph in the annual B. Y. U. cross-country run. The run was held during halftime of the Cougar-Buff grid battle. Webb hit the tape in 12:42 minutes to clip 162 seconds off the old record, set up by Max Andrews, varsity man in 1937. The tarililant sophomore winner was given a secopd lead on the H. G. Merrill trophy. He won the event last year. One more victory for Webb will give him permanent possession of the cup. I Byron Woodland," junior and ace : distance man of the "Y" track team last spring, finished some 200 yards behind Webb. Carl Jones, sophomore, took ! third place, making the finish exactly ex-actly as it twas last year: Webb, Woodland and Jones. Three other starters finished as follows: Ted Johnson, Morris Bushman and Earl Smith. Woodland and Jones will be-- be-- awarded medals for their efforts. |
