Show At The Universities (Special to Springville Herald) PROVO Elaine Brocktank ot Springville, was in the cast of "Excursion," ,by Victor Wolf son, which was presented at Brigham Young university here Thursday and Friday nights, November lb and 17. ' The play was the first dramatic drama-tic production of the season at the university. It was a three-act three-act comedy, directed by Dr. T. Earl Pardoe, protessor of speech lit B. Y. U., with Mrs. Kathryn fi. Pardoe as associate director. The story of the play dealt Kith the experiences of a group nf people aboard a river excur-iion excur-iion boat. The captain, informed ihat the boat was making its last trip, was persuaded to sail iicr against orders, to a deserted bland. In this setting, the characters char-acters of the play, all hoping to start life anew at their expected destination, attempted to solve life problems. (Special to Springville Herald) PROVO Matt Olsen of Springville; Spring-ville; has been pledged a member mem-ber of Gold Y, lower classmen service fraternity at Brigham Young university here. The fraternity is honorary and was organized at B. Y. U. in 1935. It is designed to promote and foster lellowship and student stu-dent activities on the university campus. Tc 'has as special duties lb? lighting of the huge block "Y" on the mountain overlooking Uie school, and the sponsoring M rallies, contests and meets. Membership in Gold Y is based on activity and leadership; the organization strives to select only active students of good scholastic scholas-tic standing. |
