Saturday Brifrham Young vs. Wyoming at Larmie. When the blasting was all over Saturday, Brigham Young rested in a fourth place tie iwth Utah State, and Colorado's high stepping step-ping Buffs, the Cougars conquerors, conquer-ors, were out in front of the Big Seven title chase. Two other teams remained in the fight for the crown Utah and Denver. Utah romped Colorado state's ends for 42 points to bowl over the Centennial state eleven, 42-7, at Fort Collins. Denver was idle. ! Although Utah battles Utah State at Salt Lake City Thursday, the circuit's championship will not be decided until November 30 when Colorado goes to Denver. Colorado can win the title with a victory over the Pioneers. Should the Buffs lose, however, Denver and Utah would be tied for the top spot, providing, of course, that the Redskins get by Utah State this week. "Y" Goes to Laramie Denver can cop the championship champion-ship by beating the Buffs, with Utah losing to the Aggies. 'The other conference game scheduled this week takes Brig- ham Young to Wyoming. The Cowboys of Laramie, the "win-less "win-less wonders" of the Big Seven, pushed Utah State to the limits Saturday before dropping their fifth straight, ,20 to 13. The Sons of Brigham are likely tc run into plenty of trouble before they get out of Wyoming. Laramie is demanding one victory and the Cowboys are planning1 to dish it up at the expense of the traveling Cougars. Highlight game of the week end was at Provo where the Buffs scored in the second and fourth periods while the Cougars were pickin gup a touchdown in the second. A long pass, Stasiea to Saunders, in the last quarter accounted ac-counted for Colorado's final touch- down and the victory. At Laramie, Wyoming capitalized capital-ized on breaks to tie the Utah State score at halftime, 13-13. The State team won the game when Slater, fullback, scored on the first play of the final period at the climax of a 79-yard downfield march. The Utah return to power and stni a chance at the title was through a complete crushing of Colorado State. The Redskins scored practically at will with Clarence Gerhke, Isadore Spector, Charles Turner and Tom Pace leading the charge. |
