Show SOCIETY NEVS Members of Camp Aaron Johnson John-son D. U. P. will 'hold their January Janu-ary meeting Friday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. Emma Beardall, Kast Fourth South street. The meeting was scheduled for Thursday Thurs-day afternoon hut due to the funeral fu-neral service for John A. Strong in the First ward that afternoon, the meeting was postponed until Friday. A splendid program .is planned for the occasion and all members are urged to be present. Miss Prudence Wride and Miss Elda Hansen were hostesses to members of the Current Study club at a delightful evening's entertainment en-tertainment Monday at Keeleys, in Provo. Miss Dorothy Reed of Spanish Fork sang, "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," and "The . Thrush at Eventide," accompanied by Miss Edith Nash. Helen Alle-man Alle-man gave a paper on, "Poetry and Its Origin." Dinner was served serv-ed early in the evening to the following members and guests, Miss Cora Page, Miss Eva Lee of Bramall, Dama Grant, Ha Clyde, Lois Johnson, Lucille Metcalfe and Phyllis Smart. Novelty Circle girls took advantage ad-vantage of the fine winter weather and enjoyed a sleighing party last Wednesday evening. They met at the home of Beth Anderson, president presi-dent of the club and from there set forth in bobs, hand sleighs and skis. After an exhilerating evening out-of-doors, they returned to the home of Miss Anderson where they were served delicious meat pies, hot chocolate and malts. Those enjoying the affair were Beth Mendenhall, Venice Whiting, Marjorie Child, Delia Baxter, Clair Rowland, Mildred Parry, Mary Huntington, Konda Riding, Nedra Beal, Velma Olsen and the hostess. The meeting of the Jovality club members has been postponed until February 5, when it will be held at the 'home of Mrs. Ann Stewart, it was announced Wednesday. Wed-nesday. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Jacobsen of this city left early this week for Oak City, where they were called due to the serious illness of Mr. Jacobsen's mother. Members of the Ladies' Literary club will be entertained Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Bird-ella Bird-ella Bearnson. Mae Groesbeck will entertain the group with a book review. All are urged to be present. In honor of Mrs. Golden Anderson, Ander-son, formerly Miss Charlotte Hall, a number of friends entertained at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Condie, Thursday evening in the form of a miscellaneous shower. Hostesses were Mrs. Eulalia Livingston, Mrs. Vineta P. Harmer, Mrs. Jayne Jensen, Jen-sen, Miss Cleon Fox and Miss Harriet Miner. The time was spent with a variety of games after which a tasty luncheon was served. serv-ed. Approximately 25 friends and relatives were in attendance. The Busy Finger club members were guests Thursday afternoon of Mrs. Arvil Bira at her home. Sewing and social chat were enjoyed en-joyed together with a nicely arranged ar-ranged luncheon. There were present, Mrs. Reed Straw, Mrs. Frank Cranmer, Mrs. Lloyd Bird, Mrs. Bertrum Dallin, Mrs. Charles Porter, Mrs. Merle Sargent, Mrs. LaVern Beardall, Mrs. Velma Roy-lance, Roy-lance, Mrs. Wilma Stone, Mrs. Catherine Kirk, Mrs. Gertrude Clements, Mrs. Evelyn Bird and Mrs. Audrey Jensen, the latter five ladies being guests. Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp Bonneville were entertained Thursday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Wheeler, with Mrs. Bell Childs, Mrs. Hattie Blackett, Mrs. Lucy Robertson, and Mrs. Mary Wheeler, assisting hostesses. The meeting program consisted of a history of Jacob Houtz given by Mrs. Josie Alle-man Alle-man and the lesson, "Our Government" Gov-ernment" given by Mrs. Mary J. Finley. At the conclusion of the meetiifg refreshments "were served to 23 members and guests. In honor of Mrs. Hazel Robert- cess 'and well-being during their i stay in the islands. Mrs. Hazel Roylance was hostess host-ess to members of her Primary class at a party Thursday evening. The group early in the evening enjoyed a sleigh ride and later returned re-turned to the Roylance home where games and a lunch were featured. Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. Bearnson returned re-turned to their home here Friday from an enjoyable three weeks' trip to points of interest along the west coast. Mrs. G. D. Kennedy and daughter daugh-ter Gale, of Salina spent several days of the past week with relatives rela-tives and friends in Springville and Salt Lake City. Mrs. John R. Anderson will be nostess to members of the Home Culture club at her home Friday afternoon. The committee on civic welfare will have charge of the program for the afternoon. Among the enjoyable parties of the. week was one given by Mrs. E. O. Hall in the form of a miscellaneous mis-cellaneous shower for her daughter daugh-ter Charlotte, a bride of the past week. Many lovely wedding gifts were presented the guest of 'honor from approximately 40 relatives and friends in attendance. Mrs. Hugh Baxter will be hostess host-ess to members of the S. T. club at her home Friday, January 22. All members are urged to be present at 8 p. m. Dr. and Mrs. L. E. Otteson attended at-tended a banquet and social given by the Utah County Dental association asso-ciation at the Roberts hotel in Provo on Wednesday evening of l-the l-the past week. The regular meeting of the Legion Le-gion auxiliary was held Wednes- j day evening at Memorial hall, with , about 30 members and guests in attendance. The program for the evening an especially educational and enjoyable one, consisted of a baritone horn solo, by Bert Robertson, Rob-ertson, accompanied by Annie Fox; a vocal solo, LaMar Friel, accompanied by his sister, Mrs. Gloria Rasmussen; a vocal solo by Verl Jones, accompanied by Mrs. Rasmussen; a talk on, "How America Can Keep Out of War," by Hugh Baxter who was assisted by a number of his students, Delia Baxter, Robert Cranmer and Velma Olsen. The organization voted to plan for the installation of a flag and flag pole at each of the public schools. Mrs. Vilate Reynolds was named to investigate investi-gate the plan. Refreshments were served in conclusion by hostesr.tr. Ada Barron, LaPreal and Etta Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Spaf-ford Spaf-ford entertained members of their club and a few friends at their home Thursday evening. Progressive Progres-sive 500 was played and high score prize was awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Miller. A delightful luncheon was served at the close of the party. Mrs. Rose Roylance won high score prize and the second prize went to Mrs. Louise Whiting. Eight club members and Mrs. Ila Cranmer attended as a special guest. The next meeting of the club will be held January 22 at the home of Mrs. Mary Kelley. A marriage license was issued last week at the country court house to Miss Mildred Houtz of I this city and Glenn E. Bray of Provo. In honor of Miss Marian Miner who will be married January 24, a miscellaneous shower was given Saturday evening at the home of her mother, Mrs. M. F. Miner. Miss Lola Williams, Mrs. Eugene Miner, Mrs. Frank Jensen, and Miss Lula Hatch were hostesses. The evening was spent with games after which a tasty lunch was served. A well arranged banquet was served early in the evening with covers laid for approximately 9"0 guests, including stake board members and their partners, members of the ward Relief society presidency and their partners and the stake presidency and t"ne;r partners. Mrs. Hannah M. Clyde was toast-mistress toast-mistress and several toasts were given to Mrs. Robertson. After the banquet a program was enjoyed. en-joyed. Mrs. Robertson was presented pre-sented with a lovely gift and made a brief response expressing her appreciation.
