Show SCOUT NEWS Chief A. A. Anderson of the National Parks scout council was .ne principal speaker at a meeting meet-ing -of scouts and scouters here Saturday evening. He discussed phases of the national scout jamboree jam-boree to be held in Washington, D. C. in June, and also spoke briefly on the international jamboree jam-boree to be held in Holland in July. It would cost approximately $125 including meals, for a scout to make the trip to Washington, D. C. and attend the jamboree, he said. Another $250 would finance the trip to Holland, it is estimated. Only scout troops registered by January 1 are eligible to participate partici-pate in the national jamborees, he told the group. The meeting was under the direction di-rection of Vice Chairman Oscar Whiting of Mapleton. Prayers were offered by Edward Boyer and Wilford Mower. In observance of National Scout week, it was decided to hold courts of honor in each of the wards on Sunday evening, eve-ning, February 7, and to meet at some central place for the scout lecommittal exercise, Monday night. Tuesday night is visiting night, while on Wednesday, Thursday Thurs-day and Friday special programs will be given in schools and public gatherings in observance of Scout week. Saturday a pilgrimage to some historical place is being-planned. being-planned. In charge of the latter are Oscar Whiting and Edward Boyer, appointed at the meeting. Reports were given by the various vari-ous ward troops as follows: First, 2 in uniform; Second ward, 8 new scouts, one troop committee meeting, meet-ing, (j first class awards, 2 in uniforms, uni-forms, one troop activity; Fourth ward, 2 new scouts, one troop committee meeting; 2 second and cue first class award; 3 in uniforms, uni-forms, one good turn and one troop activity. It was also reported that 54 boys of scout age graduated from Primary last year and an effort will be made to enroll these boys in scout work. |
