Show JOHN A. STRONG PASSES AWAY Funeral services for John A. Strong, 79, life-long resident of Springville who died Tuesday morning of ailments incident to his age, following a long illness at the 'home of a son, Elias A. Strong, South Main street, will be held today at 2 p. m., in the First ward chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Strong was born in Springville, Spring-ville, March 8, 1857. He has made his home here always. During his early life, he operated a saw mill in Spanish Fork canyon, and for a number of years he contracted ties for the Denver and Rio Grande railroad. At one time he managed a brick kiln in this community. He also engaged in farming and mining. Mr. Strong took an active part in church w.-rk being a presiding pre-siding teacher for a number of years and was a high priest at the time of his death. He married Sarah Hutchings March 8, 1875, in the Endowment. House, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Strong died in 1921. Surviving are nine sons and daughters of a family of fifteen children: Ernest A. Strong, former bishop of the Second ward, and president of the Associated General Gen-eral Contractors, intermountain branch, Elias A. Strong, Mrs. Mae Child, Mrs. Bessie Bramall. Mrs. Maude Ferguson, Springvile; Marvin Mar-vin H. Strong, Sat Lake City; Mrs. Bertha Robertson, Mrs. Jessie Nybo, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Joseph King, Paul, Idaho. There are also 62 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; grand-children; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Forest, Nephi; six half-brothers and sisters.
