Show atives here and in Salt Lake City. Miss Ruth Hardy is spending her vacation with relatives and friends at Mt. Pleasant. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hardy, Har-dy, also visited at Mt. Pleasant and Manti the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Abe Day and two children of Castle Dale; Mrs. Cook of Huntington, and Mrs. Polly Day of Elmo, spent the week end with relatives a n d friends in Springville and Provo, coming especially to attend the Childs family reunion. Mrs. Polly Pol-ly Day will visit here several weeks. Mrs. Arvil Bird and daughter and son are spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Lambert, in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Clarence Mower returned Friday from a two weeks' trip to Montana, where she met Mr. Mower, who has been employed there the past several months. Mr. and Mrs. Upton Cherring-ton Cherring-ton left the past week on a few clays' vacation trip to Yellowstone Yellow-stone National park. I Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Will Childs and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thorpe have gone on a few days' vacation trip to the world's fair at San Fiancisco, Calif. I Miss Moyra Ullock, who is taking training at the L. D. S. hospital, spent the week end with her parents in Springville. Miss Lola Felix, nurse, is spending part of her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Felix, in this city. A number of friends surprised Condie Crandall at his home Sunday night, on the occasion of his birthday. Raymond Parker of Tacoma, Wash., arrived the past week foi a short vacation with his parents Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Parker in Salt Lake City and other relatives and friends here. He will accompany accom-pany his wife and small son who have been visiting here the past two weeks on their return. The Legion auxiliary under the direction of President Hazel Roylance Roy-lance held their monthly meeting Wednesday night at Memorial hall. The group was entertained with vocal solos by Reid Jones accompanied ac-companied by Miss Helen Nelson; vocal solos by Tess Cherrington, accompanied by Miss lone Aver-ett Aver-ett and an especially interesting review of her recent trip to the northwest and the San Francisco worlds' fair bv Mrs. LaPreal Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Stewart of tliis city announce the marriage of their daughter Wanda, to O. J. Peay, of Provo, which took place on June 27, at the home of the bride's parents. Bishop Harold Aleman of the Second ward performed per-formed the ceremony in c:ie presence pres-ence of close friends and Immediate Immed-iate family members. Miss Marie legg attended the bride as bridesmaid brides-maid and Dean anil Floyd Stewart, brothers of tile bride, stood with t he groom. The bride looked charming in a white sports model with corsage of orchids. Lovely cut flowers formed a background for the wedding wed-ding party. The couple left shortly short-ly after the wedding for a trip through Yellowstone National park and have returned to make their home in Provo. Morton returned Friday Fri-day from a delightful vacation lo Fish lake. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Greener of Helper, were week end guests of relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Kruse arrived ar-rived in Springville the past few days from Manila, P. I., to spend a month with Mrs. Kruse's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Harrison. Mr. Kruse, an officer in the U. S. army, has been stationed sta-tioned at Manila, P. I., the past two years and . has now been' transferred to Fort Douglas. Following their vacation, they plan to make their home in Salt Lake City. , Mr. and Mrs. John A. Fox and family of this city, joined with a large group of relatives from all parts of the state and ari-zona ari-zona at an annual reunion of the Fox family at Saratoga resort re-sort last Saturday. Mrs. Arvil Bird was hostess to members of the Busy Fingers club at Riverside Inn on Thursday. Thurs-day. The group enjoyed a delicious delici-ous dinner, together with social chat and sewing. Mr. and Mrs. LaCelle Bird have returned from a delightful two weeks' vacation trip to California. Cal-ifornia. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Howard Law at Oakland; visited the world's fair and numerous num-erous other places of interest on the coast. On their return, they visited. Boulder dam and other scenic attractions in Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Wells Crandall, with their son, Gregg Crandall, and wife, and sons Leland and Ted, have just returned from a delightful trip to southern Utah. They were accompanied from Hurricane by Mr. and Mrs. Owen B. Wright and little daughter, Marlene. The party then motored to Boulder dam. On their return, re-turn, they spent a short time at Zion and Bryce canyons and at Fish lake. ! Friel. Following a short business session in which officers for the coming year were elected, refreshments refresh-ments were served by Mrs. Thel-ma Thel-ma Cherrington, Mrs. Verl Jones and Mrs. Harold Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. John Miner and son Jack have spent the past month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hawkins and other relatives anil friends in Springville. They . plan to return re-turn to their home in Bakers-field, Bakers-field, Calif., August 1. Among the entertaining and delightful parties of the week was that of the girls of the summer home making project class held Tuesday afternoon at Sulpher Springs in Hobble Creek canyon, under direction of Miss Jean Smith, director. The girls enjoyed games, a program of singing and instrumental music the latter by Joy Johnson and Evelyn. Christensen, and tasty refreshments. re-freshments. In attendance were Tauna Holt, Veon Bird, Phylis Bird, Marjorie Simkins, Ina San-ford, San-ford, Zella Hales, Valena Jones, Evelyn Christensen, Joy Johnson, and Miss Smith, who was in charge. Last Tuesday night, the girls of the Third ward Gleaner class under the direction of Mrs. C. G. Russell, were entertained at a party at her home. The time was spent with social chat and sewing concluded with dainty refreshments. re-freshments. Members of the ward Y. W. M. I. A. presidency including in-cluding Mrs. Mary Smart, Mrs. Marva Johnson and Mrs. Pearl Smith, and Miss Hannah Rowland Row-land of the stake board, were special guests. Mrs. Louise Straw was also welcomed as the new Gleaner leader to assist Mrs. Russell. In attendance at the party were 27 members and guests. Members of the Gleaner class under the direction of Mrs. C. U. Russell nad Mrs. Louise Straw, went to Maple Creek canyon, Tuesday night and there enjoyed a weiner roast, games and social chat. Twenty-two class members and guests were in attendance. The next meeting or the group Mrs. O. J. Peay, the former Wanda Stewart, of this city was honored with a. bridal shower 1 given by Mrs. W. P. Evans and Mrs. I. C. Nelson of Spanish Fork, j at the home of the latter Sunday j afternoon. Those going j from here were Mrs. Dean Stewart, Stew-art, Mrs. Jane Stewart and Mrs. Max Packard. Mrs. O. J. Peay was also guest of honor at a shower on Monday ; night given by Mrs. Sarabel Stewart Stew-art and Mrs. Ann Stewart at the home of the latter. A delightful feature of entertainment was a book review by Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson. Employees of A. W. Cherrington Cherring-ton during the cherry season, were entertained at an outing at Luke's Hot Pots Tuesday. Swimming and lunch were enjoyed en-joyed by all. Joseph Carnesecca took employees em-ployees during the fruit season on his farm to Luke's Hot Springs, Sunday. A large crowd enjoyed swimming and picnic lunch. Complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. - Harvard Osmond and children chil-dren of Oakland, Calif., who have been visiting here, Mrs. Lena Maycock entertained at dinner at her home on Sunday. Mrs. J. E. Hawkins was hostess to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Taylor, Mrs. Mary Miner and Mr. and Mrs. John Miner at a nicely arranged dinner at her home one day last week. While guests of Mr. and Mis. J. E. Hawkins and their son, Vern, Mr. and Mrs. John Miner and son Jack spent a week at Fish lake. They also took a motor trip over Nebo loop and Timpanogos loop. Mrs. Mary Miner entertained at dinner at her home Sunday complimentary to her sons and daughters and families and Mr and Mrs. J. E. Hawkins and son. Of interest to many friends is announcement of the marriage of Miss Ferl Nielson, daughter of L. A. Nielson of Mapleton and Myron S. Brown, son of Mrs. Emma N. Brown of Provo, which took place on July 13, at Paris, Idaho. The couple went on a few days' wedding trip to Yellowstone Yel-lowstone National park and plan to make their home in Provo. In their honor a number of social so-cial events are planned. Miss Nielson, prior to her marriage, was dark at the Springville high school. Bob Huntington, Elden Peery and Ronda Jenkins have just returned from a two weeks' vacation va-cation trip in Which they visited the world's fair at San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif., traveled down the coast to Los Angeles, and on their return, visited the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Fish lake. Forest officials of the Manti reserve honored S. H. Ollerton, who retired recently from the service, and his family at an outing Sunday. The party was also for Ed Cox and Bruce Jennings, Jen-nings, who are being transferred. transfer-red. All members and other eligible are urged to attend. at-tend. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Walker left Tuesday evening on a vacation trip to the eastern and middle-west middle-west states. They will stop at Flint, Mich., for a new car and will possibly tour New York and attend the fair there and spend a short time in other eastern cities. Miss Anna Beardall of this city, had as her guests during the week end, Miss Ella Johnson and Miss Amy Linblade of Rock-ford, Rock-ford, 111. The girls were en route to the world's fair at San Francisco, Calif. It was their first trip here and they were especially impressed with the mountains and canyons of the vicinity. Miss Beardall made the girls acquaintance while attending attend-ing Northwestern University last summer. Mrs. Flora McKenzie, Mrs. Gertrude Sumsion, Mrs. Josephine Jose-phine M. Whiting and Miss Aleen McKenzie returned Sunday from a delightful two weeks' vacation trip. They went by way of the Northwest, visiting places of interest in-terest in Idaho, Montana, Washington Wash-ington and Oregon, taking a boat trip to Victoria, B. C. They traveled trav-eled down the coast to San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif., where they spent a few days visiting the world's fair and other places of interest, traveling in all, a distance of nearly 4000 miles. Mrs. Norma Snow of Wellington, Welling-ton, has spent the past few days with Mrs. A. O. Childs and other relatives and friends here. The Provo Rio Grande Service Serv-ice club, consisting of employees and their families located between be-tween Midvale and Soldier Summit, Sum-mit, held their regular summer outing at Vivian Park last Sunday. Sun-day. About 400 people participated partici-pated .and fully enjoyed a program pro-gram of music and a talk by Assistant Superintendent Loftis of Salt Lake City. Races for all ages and a Softball game between be-tween different departments of the Rio Grande featured the sports program. C. E. Eggert-sen, Eggert-sen, club president; M. Merritt, vice president of Springville, and Harold Morrison, secretary, were in charge of the program, assisted by members of the entertainment en-tertainment committee. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Parker, Lilies Branscumb and Eugene Joy of Kansas City, Kan., en route to Hollywood, visited the past week with Mr. and Mrs Roy Cates. i Miss Ila Clyde and Miss Louise Clyde left Sunday to spend two weeks' vacation with an aunt, Mrs. Clara Christensen, and family fam-ily at San Motel, Calif. Miss Helen Christensen. is spending- a few weeks' vacation at Los Angeles, Calif. A group of friends were delightfully de-lightfully entertained at a party last Friday night at the home of Miss Cecilia Maycock. Outdoor Out-door games and delicious lunch-cheon lunch-cheon were enjoyed, the latter being carried out in a unique and attractive Mexican scheme. Those in attendance were Marjorie Simkins, Louise Clyde, Wilna Brown, Helen Christensen, Miriam Mir-iam Long, Lucille Oakley, Luel-la Luel-la Huntington, Richard Reynolds, Ray Clark, Byron Hardy, Malcolm Mal-colm Condie, Don Frandsen, Dan Payne, David Welch and Cecilia Maycock.
