Show Deer Creek Dam Site In Provo Canyon Busy Place from Provo daily by the employes who live in town. We have spacious lawns, trees and flowers- in abundance, also a tennis court and soft ball field. It is much cooler here than in town, and many of our friend find relaxation in the cool mountain moun-tain air on Sundays and in the evenings. Supplies are delivered twice a week from Heber City and Provo, milk is brought daily along with newspapers. Manj; Camp Out Many of the men working for the contractor are camping out at Rube Week camp just below the dam site, while others are at Vivian park, Upper Falls,. Heber City and Charleston, Provo canyon is literally "alive" with trailer 'houses, in my mind a very ideal way of living in the "good old summer sum-mer time." After having witnessed all four of the seasonal changes of nature in the canyon, it is very hard to say at which time of the year the camp is most beautiful, but I believe be-lieve most every one has a yen for the fall. R.H.N. " At. present, work on the Deer ("reck darn is centered principally on excavation along the cutoff trench. Two 2?4 cubic yard draglines drag-lines and one 2;-, cubic yard shovel are engaged in this work. This trench will be excavated I') bed rock, and a concrete wall will be placed along the rock and pull way up each side. It will then be back filled and rolled with ! a .specially designed roller. Work on the temporary highway high-way and railroad grade is going ' forward daily. Rails are being ! laid on the railroad and fine grad ing on the highway. for the benefit of those who , may not know, the Deer Creek nam is being built approximately lour miles above Vivian park in , provo canyon. For those of you j who may not have had the oppor- I unity of visiting the clam site, n real treat is in store I assure i you. Tile hustle and bustle of men and equipment is little short ' of amazing to those who have ; not passed through the canyon since the construction started, the Work goes on both day and night, never ceasing, except, perhaps per-haps for some repair work to 1 equipment. 1 Routine Activity 9'o us, living at the. United j States Bureau of Reclamation camp all this activity is every day routine, but, to any stranger who i stops to gaze on this great spec- j tacle it is a source of never ending i delight. j Nearly all ihe families living at : the camp have lived here for a year, and I might say, it has been a very healthy year for most of us. Children of which there are eight in number, ranging in ages from six months to five years, two girls and six boys, have been very well indeed, without any con-tngeous con-tngeous disease of any kind. Kight Cabins Here The cabins are built along the .hank of the creek, eight cabins in all. one for the Bureau of Reclamation Rec-lamation employees who wish to "batch." We have our own water and sewer system. The mail is brought |
