Show SOCIETY NEVS Mr. and Mrs. Burton Groesbecli' entertained at a nicely arrangec dinner at their home Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison Har-rison who arc leaving soon ior tow. Early summer flowern were 'ised :s a. table centerpiece and covets were laid for twelve. Honoring Miss Virginia Packard daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Packard of this city, who was married mar-ried to A. ton Marker of Springville Wednesday, Mis. Lucille Johnson, Mis. Aleen Harding, Miss Marie kindred and Miss Helen Menden-hail Menden-hail entertained at a miscellaneous shower Monday evening. Progressive "cootie" and social so-cial chat furnished pleasant enter- ! tainment for the evening and was followed by the serving of a delicious deli-cious luncheon. Many beautiful and useful gifts were received by the honor guest from her many friends and relatives present. I I Orson Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Niels Hanson of this city and Eva Allan of Mapleton were married mar-ried by Bishop R. L. Mendenhall of Mapleton Tuesday, June 3. Complimentary to Miss Alberta Mendenhall of this city who will leave June 16 for the mialson home in Salt Iake prior to going to California, Cali-fornia, the Fidelas clug, social unit of the B. Y. U. of which Miss Mendenhall Men-denhall is a member entertained at a shower at the home of Miss Le-nore Le-nore Rasmusscn in Provo Monday evening. A delightful time with a program and social chat was spent and a dainty lunch was served to about twenty-five girls present. Many useful gifts were presented Miss Mendcnhal from friends there. Miss Mabel Dililngham, daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Esther Crandall of this city, and Paul Ellertson of Provo were married in the Salt Lake temple, Wednesday, June 4. j Mrs. Melvin Daibey entei tained j at a nicely arranged and delicious , luncheon at the home of her par-j par-j ents. The dining I tables were each centered with an j attractive centerpiece of pink roses j and white seringa, place cards and other table decorations carried out the color scheme of pink and white. Guests included teachers from the Jefferson school, Salt Lake, Mrs. ; Sanford, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Webster, Web-ster, Salt Lake, Mrs. Harold Johnson, John-son, Eureka, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sumsicn, Mrs. Frank Salisbury, Mrs. Glenn Suru.-ion and Mrs. W. H. Brown. The afternoon wa.se spent with social chat and music. Complimentary to Miss Lillian Curtis of Salem who will leave in the near future on an L. D. S. mission, mis-sion, Mr. and Mrs. George Straw entei en-tei tained at a dinner at their home Thursday evening. Japanese daisies, fonned an attractive centerpiece for the long dining table. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mra. Fred Curtis, Bert Bortleston and Misi Curtis all of Salem. Alfred Reynolds, son of Mr. and Mis. George Reynolds and a former resident of Springville, leaves Los Angeles fo spend several days with relatives and friends here. Alfred Is employed at Mullen St Bluetts store in Los Angeles, but believes strong in the song of home "I am going to hide away down beside that Utah trail." The entire family keep in touch with the old friends by continuing with the home paper. As an appropriate conclusion for the season's activities the Daughters Daugh-ters of the Pioneers camps No. 1 and 2 of this city together with the j Service Star Legion will feature a ' program and picnic lunch on the j city park next Thursday afternoon, accoiding to announcement by of-j of-j licers in chaige. All pioneers in the j city " will be special invited guests land everyone is requested to bring their own lunch. Mrs. Ruth Ward Mumford, formerly for-merly school nurse of this cUy, was chc guest last Friday at the home of l.li . and Mrs. W. L. Grooms. Mrs. W. L. Nance and son Jerry, and Mrs. Sherman Nance of Tooele were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Leon-ard Nirlson at their home on Second Sec-ond East street Saturday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank' Chase and Mrs. J. O. Tuckfield of Salt Lake were guests during" last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Straw and other relatives in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee and two daughters, and Mr. and Mrs. James Stevenson were guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Thomas in Ogden. Mrs. Annie Mc-Connell Mc-Connell of Bingham was a guest during the paut week at the home of Mrs.. Stevenson. The Primary officers and teachers teach-ers of the Second ward entertained at a surprise party last Thursday evening in honor of Miss Lucy Wainwright and Mrs. Norma Strong who are resigning from work in the organization.
