PLEASANT GROVE-More than 20.000 people from Utah county and surrounding districts dis-tricts gathered here this morning to v i t n c s s the Strawberry day parade, the opening event of the ninth annual Utah Strawberry day festival. The parade with more than 300 gorgeous floats in the lin of march was one of the best of its kind ever seen In the county. Leading the procession pro-cession was the mounted color guard followed by the Pleasant Grove band and the Strawberry i Queen's float. j Mrs. Howard Thorn as the queen and Miss Evelyn Yancey and Miss ' May Wadley as the attendants occupied oc-cupied the latter lloat. Immediately Immediate-ly following was the Beehive float with Miss Florence Oscaraon aa Utah. i Provo Represented In addition to the Plea3.njit Grove I band, five other organisations were inserted in the parade, including the crack Wasatch High band of Heber with 80 members ; Lincoln high, Spanish Fork high, and the Pleas- f, ant Grove junior bands. ji Neighboring towns of Utah coun- ty displayed a fine spirit of co- f pperation by being t e presented in the parade with fine floats. Provo, especially, lent a helping 11 hand with spec acular American Legion Drum and Bugle corps, led f by Drum Major Gv-rge 13. Ballif fol lowed by a huge replica of a battle ship drawing attention to the. Fourth of July celebration to bo staged at Provonna Beach. Provo City entered a beautiful float with Miss Hildrt Ferrer In tha ) position of honor. The Provo firo ! department was nluo represented! ! with Chief Iteed Boshard and hU car. It was estimated that more, than 4,000 cars were parked on both sides of the line of march along the state highway from the Union Pacific Pa-cific tracks west - of town to the limits of Lindon town on the south The. committee which has worked diligently to insure the excellent parade consists of H.
