Show BEST DAIRY STOCK SHOWN: AWARDS MADE With entries from some of the best herds in this vicinity, the third annual dairy stock show was held in Springville Saturday. Officers of the local farm bureau together with members of the 4-H Jersey Calf club sponsored the exhibit which was reported the largest and most successful ever held here. Awards were made as follows: Jerseys, open call calves, first, James Diamond; second, Jay Thorpe; third, Marion Spendlove; fourth, Floyd Graves; fifth, Harvey Hutchinson. Jersey bulls, first, East Bench bull block; second, George Peterson. Aged Jersey cows, first, Arthur Thorpe; second, Lpwell Golding; third, Harvey Hutchinson; fourth, George Peterson; Peter-son; fifth, Heber Houtz. Four-H club Jersey cak' exhibit: yearlings, first, Carl Peterson; second?, sec-ond?, DeVere Weight; third, Dean Hutchinson. Young calves, first, Merlin Houtz; second, Bert Cher-rington. Cher-rington. Grade yearlings, first, Newell Weight; second, Robert Weight; fourth, Frances Chikls. Young grade calves, first, Paul Best; second, Richard Oakley. Holstein display, open to all grades, first, John Nelson; second, Marcus Johnson; third, Que Jones; fourth, Paul H.t Hjorth. Grade cows, first, Andrew V. Nelson; second, sec-ond, Lorin Cameron. Four-H club Holstein yearlings, pure bred, first, George Strong; second, Clyde Miner; third, Ralph Johnson. Young calves, first, LaMar Miner; second, Hugh Hjorth; third, Carlos Hjorth; grade calves, first, Marvin Nelson; second, sec-ond, Glenn Miner. Show herds, first, George Peterson; Peter-son; second, Heber Houtz; third, Straight Line Holsteins. Prof. Grant Ivins of the B. Y. U., Provo, Anson B. Call and Lyman R. Rich, county agriculture agents, were judges. Ivan Ballard of Pay-son, Pay-son, was among the visitors from out-of-town who attended the show. |
