Complimentary to Mrs. Nell Alle-i Alle-i 1 man and in celebration of her birthday anniversary the officers and teachers of the Second ward primary organization of which ' Mrs. Alleman is president surprised her at her home Monday evening. A general good time was spent with social chat, games and music, followed fol-lowed by a sumptuous lunch. The following ladies were present: Mis. Reynodds, was in charge. ! The Reverend Harold L. Wilson gave an especially interesting talk 1 on his travels in Palestine, and ! ' also entertained with two readings. A piano duet was given. Following Follow-ing the program, a delicious lunch-ean lunch-ean was served to eighteen members mem-bers and three visitors present. In honor of her little daughter, Maurine, whose fifth birthday occurred oc-curred Sunday, Mrs. T. E. Childs, Jr., entertained at a pretty little birthday party at their home Monday Mon-day afternoon. Decorations and the lunch were suggestive of Easter Eas-ter time, also a birthday cake added to the decorative attractions. Following a period of games, supervised super-vised by the hostess, a dainty lunch was served to about twenty .Ittle friends and relatives present. Mr. and Mrs. Alonbo Harmon of this city were called to Salt Lake during last week on account of the death of Mr. Harmon's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Harmon of that city. On account of so many members going to the centennial celebration in Salt Lake during conference week, Camp No. I, Daughters of the Pioneers, will not, hold their regular monthly meeting Thursday, but will postpone it until the following fol-lowing week, April, according to announcement by officers. Prominent among the social affairs af-fairs of the past week was the miscellaneous shower given by friends and relatives Wednesday evening, complimentary to Mrs. Melvin - Dalbey, formerly Miss Leona Sumsion, a bride of the past week. The party was given at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sumsion. Entertaining Enter-taining rooms were decorated with California poppies, roses and sweet peas. A program of musical selections se-lections and readings were furnished fur-nished by Miss Esther May cock and Miss Mildred Parry, followed by games and stunts. A delicious luncneon was later served to the following relatives and friends: Mrs. Fannie Oakley, Mrs. Ernest j Oakley, Mrs. Emma Long, Mrs. Carrie Parry and daughter Mildred, Mil-dred, Louise Long, Mrs. G. Dal-bey. Mrs. Celestia Boyer returned last week .from a pleasant visit with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Anderson and family in Lehi. Members of Camp No. II, Daughters Daugh-ters of the Pioneers, will meet Thursday, April 10, at the home of Mrs. Elsie Condie, according to announcement made early in the week. The history of two pioneers, I. S. Clegg and G. S. Condie, will be given, and the descendants of these families will give the program. pro-gram. Mrs. Frank Sanford of Salt Lake City spent three days of the past week as guest of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sumsion in this city. The girls of the Third ward Gleaner class of Mutual Improvement Improve-ment association entertained at an enjoyable and well-arranged "pot luck" supper and social Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. C. G. Salisbury. A variety of clever games, music and social chat were among the other enjoyabfe features fea-tures of -the affair. A large crowd was in attendance. The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Wheeler in Provo n,vas the scene of a gay social event Saturday Satur-day evening when they entertained a number of friends. A color scheme, early spring flowers being employed in the scheme. Following Follow-ing an enjoyable time with games, an eloborate luncheon was served to the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn, Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Hardy, Miss Alice Carter, Oliver Meservey, Miss Nellie Gudgeon Gud-geon of Provo, and Mr. and Mrs.. Frank Cranmer, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird, Miss Helen Palfreyman, and Leon Blackett of this city. Mrs. Melvin Dalbey of Salt Lake, accompanied by Mrs. W. H. Brown and daughter Wilma, Mrs. Daniel Sumsion, and Mrs. Frank Hadley spent Thursday in Eureka, as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson. Mrs. Michael Long and children; and Mrs. Fannie Oakley went to Spanish' Fork Thursday to spend the day with Mrs. Oakley's sister, Mrs. Annie Brown of that city. |
