Show SOCIETY, z The regular monthly meeting of t In- Legion auxiliary waa held Wednesday evening at Memorial hall with approximately twenty-two twenty-two members and visit or attending, attend-ing, Mrs. Sarah Sterling gave an interesting talk during the evening un "Rehabilitation" and President Kf ! l.vr Johnson gave a paper on "Membership." A report on the re-tent re-tent membership campaign, given by Chairman Afton Clark, stated that t'nirty-two members had joined, join-ed, while many had signified their intention of joining later. Miss Maigaret Bird entertained' with two readings; Flnley Roylance gave an accord lan solo, and Mrs. Marjorie Bird and Mrs. Isabella Brown furnished vocal duets, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Julia Sumsion. Refreshments were served in conclusion con-clusion by Mrs. Julia Sumsion, Mrs, lather Johnson and Mrs. Manilla liiown; hostesses. Announcement Is made of the marriage last Wednesday of Jesse Everett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Everett of this city to Miss Vivian Peterson of Lake Shore, which took place in the Salt Lake temple. Christ-mas. The lesson for the afternoon was on early pioneer reading. Mrs. Julia Packard exhibited a number of early newspapers dating as far back as 1850. She - also displayed some of the. early pioneer books. Mrs. Mary Halls, daughter of Mary Jane Dilworth, the first Utah scttool tea oner, speke on books and material used in pioneer schools. Mrs. Ellen C. Wheeler gave an interesting in-teresting talk also on ploner schools of Springville. Music was furnished by Elizabeth Owens and lone Tuckett. The life of Nephi Straw,"' pioneer of 1859, and contractor con-tractor of the 'western states was given by his daughter, Mrs. Alta S. Thomas of Provo. Evelyn Peterson Pet-erson entertained with readings and Carlos Hutching sang a pioneer pion-eer song. Groesbeck. and Oliver Dal-ton Dal-ton entertained at a "stag" party at the home of the latter, last Friday Fri-day evening, complimentary to Grant Crandall who recently left to make his home in Salt Lake. Guests included fellow-workmen and friends: Henry Weight, G. L. Barron, Bar-ron, V: Cornell MendenhaU, Dr. Nelson Beal, F. C. Packard, Frank Salisbury, C: G. Salisbury, and the hosts. The men enjoyed a sumptuous sumpt-uous svipper cooked and served by themselves. Mrs. George Crandall will be hostess to the Social Twelve club at iter home Thursday evening, December 15.
