Show SUGAR FACTORY , ENDS CAMPAIGN SPANISH FORK The season's sugar beet campaign came to a close here Tuesday morning when the Utah-Idaho Sugar company ' plant at Leland completed the slicing slic-ing of beets. , The season's run has been the most successful, from point of output, out-put, since the local plant was established. During the campaign which began October 10, the plant has ' sliced 150,000 tons of sugar beets which is equivalent to the production of 500.000 bags of sugar. The sugar content of the beets averaged 16.05 per cent. The plant employed 350 men for 100 days. More than 20.000 tons of Utah mined coal was required n addition to 12,500 tons of lime I rock and other raw materials and supplies. The local factory also reclaimed 15,000 bags of burned sugar from the Brigham City sirage plant. Approximately 40,000 tons of beet Pulp has been produced and is being be-ing sold back to the growers for feed. |
