HARRIS 10 Effi TALKS Utah County Locals Represented At , Convention, i Utah county :farni' bureau members will provide a large share "of the program for the state farm bureau convention, conven-tion, which begins Thursday morning in : Salt Lake at 10 o'clock, and will continue Friday Fri-day and Saturday. J. ' W. Gillman, county commissioner commis-sioner and member of the executive execu-tive committee, hag been selected as chairman for the second day of the convention, Friday. He will also, discuss "National Activities Affecting Sugar Beet Industry" on Saturday in the afternoon session. On Friday, . Dr.- F. S. Harris, president of the Brigham Young university, . will give a -talk on "Research, As It Affects Agricultural Agricul-tural production.'' Dr. Harris is director of the department of research re-search in the state bureau. Quartet To Sing Music for the Friday session will be furnished by the Davis and Utah county quartets, the latter comprised of Lloyd Williams, leader, lead-er, Les McEwan, George W. Brown and Elmo Martin. The Utah county coun-ty quartet will compete in the state contest with other county quartets on Saturday.. Richard Oakley and Richard Loveridge of the Springville Future Fu-ture Farmers, will give a trumpet duet on Friday, and Horace Cran-dall, Cran-dall, Springville, who won the state Future Farmers public j speaking contest, will give an oration, ora-tion, "The Restoration of Economic Eco-nomic Stability." "The Need For Strong County ' Farm Organizations" is the sub- i ject of a discussion to be made by Lyman Rich, Utah county agent, Friday morning. j The address of welcome ' to the j visitors from all over the state Thursday will be' made by Mayor Louis Marcus of Salt Lake, and greetings to "the farmers of Utah" will be given by Governor Henry H. Blood. President George F. Stallings is in general charge of the convention. |
