Show GRAND JURY TO PROBEUTILITY CROWN POINT, Ind., Dec. 20 (LT.fi) Charges of criminal mismanagement misman-agement of the $100,000,000 Northern Indiana Public Service company were contained today in a grand jury report to Judge William Wil-liam J. Murray. Judge Murray ordered suppressed suppress-ed the names of officials against whom the grand jury returned indictments. in-dictments. The grand jury report revealed how books of the utilities company were juggled for rate-making purposes, pur-poses, huge expense accounts for officials and looting of the treasury treas-ury for the benefit of instill holding hold-ing companies. The grand jury suggested a federal fed-eral and state investigation into operations of the company "to see that the rights of the consumers consum-ers are cared for." The company, the report stated, could serve the public efficiently at rates 50 per cent below those now charged. |
