Show SPRINGVILLE COUNCILMEETS The water question was the topic before the Springville "city council in regular session last Tuesday evening even-ing May G. Citizens met with the council and called attention to their respective rights. The irrigation committee reported re-ported that there is not sufficient water in Hobble Creek this year to irrigate the lands that came in before be-fore 18S5, hence the lands that came iu after that date have no water rights this season. In regard to the city water system, sys-tem, it was reported that new pipe ; had arrived and. many of the leaks have been repaired. It was voted to repeal the action taken by the council coun-cil a mouth ago in regard to not issuing permits for the sprinkling of lawns and the recorder was authorized author-ized to issue permits on application. The city marshall and the waterworks water-works department were nistructed to keep a close watch on the users to see that no water was wasted through leaky taps and to see that citizens with sprinkling permits do not exceed their allotted time. The water works committee reported re-ported that Caldwell and Richards, engineers of Salt Lake City, were here examining the system to ascer- tain where the leaks in the system i are and also other places where the ! water might be going to waste. They reported that there is ample water in the head house and as soon as the system is properly repaired there will he sufficient water to take care of the present needs. The question of the city uniting with the school board and purchasing purchas-ing two acres of land on the west side of the high school campus, for the purpose of enlarging the" campus, cam-pus, came up for discussion and was referred to the committee on public improvements to investigate and make recommendations at the next meeting. The committee on streets and walks was authorized to employ a man to "sprinkle the streets during the summer months. Bids for the auditing of the city read by the recorder and the matter was referred to the auditing committee with power to act. |
