Show t Let's Attain A Victory Football! A magic word to the student of high sch;ol. A term that means much to the college ' student. A word that brings happy recollections to the business man and thoughtful reminiscences to the learned sage. Today is football day in Springville. Spingville has had other football days, but few if any that have given greater promise of genuine thrills than those looked for at today's game. Today is a day of judgment, so say the students of the Springville high. That's the importance they place upon today's game. "LET'S BEAT PROVO" is their slogan. And may we add: That's the spirit. And may w j also assure you, students, that all Springville Spring-ville is back of you in your determination to win. Our business men have announced their intention to close their places of business that they may share with you the thrill cf victory, for they are thinking in no other terms. Springville will be handicapped, however, unless the town turns out to back our Iota! team, because, a legion of enthusiastic en-thusiastic looters will here to sic the "Bulldogs" on. I- ' And what a glorious spectacle" to visual ze a multitude of youngsters cnibued with such enthusiasm over the possibility of vic;cry. But victory doesn't come alone by the merely excelling over the opposing team. Tha real victory comes in those qualities that teach the vanquisher or the vanquished to give and take without enmity, hatred or revenge; re-venge; that train the emotions and social instincts to meet an opponent on common ground and fight him fairly, courteously, ani respect him no matter if he wins or loses. To attain these qualities, educational lea lership is essential, examples of which should be found in our boards of trustees, superintendents, principals, coaches, teachers and business men. It is their duty to see that a 1 forms of unfairness are eliminated; that victory is not a thing over which we shoulJ gloat no more than defeat is a thing over which we should mourn. If we enter the campus with these ideals in mind we .shall attain a victory whether we win or lose.
