Show : ,. . f I 'City Beaultificiatioe Urged j ' The Springville Zoning Commission is asking for the cooperation of all citizens j ! in liomj buuulification, by the planting of lawns in sidewalk spaces, the removal of all j J unsightly rubbish, eradication of weeds, painting and otherwise improving property. ; I Springville has gained an enviable reputation as an art center. Fruits of this j effort are beginning to ripen in the lives of students and citizens generally, who, with ! the passing of each year, are becoming mo re appreciative of the cultural things of life. ) j To appeal to our citizens purely from the standpoint of doing things that will attract the tourists who may come and go, seems to us to be scarcely sufficient motive j I fur keeping our surroundings clean and wholesome. That angle, of course, is some- j thing that should not be lost sight of, but the element of home beautification that is of more importance, as we view it, is the development of character within our own ' ranks. ! j Much inspiration comes from the bea :tis of our homes much more than many j of us realize. If our lives and those of ou cnildrcn are to become sweet and whole- j ' scrne. we must develop outward expressions of loveliness and beauty. . j I iv tir's connection we desire to express our appreciation of the splendid work ' I done by Charlie Stone in beautifying the corner of Main and Center streets in this city, j i Tins spot is being transformed from a.n unsightly, poorly-kept place into one of the ! j most attractive comers in the city. Mr. S ;one will conduct a tourist camping ground, ' and the manner in which he has gone about his job is bound to bring him the desired I results. He realizes that the tourist enjoys beautiful suiroundings, and so he has j made his place attractive. ' . We hope the city will do all within it s pow er to assist Mr. Stone in his enterprise. The more tourists he can induce to ston h ere over night or for a few days, the great- I cr will be the benefits to this community. And when those tourists are induced to stop j here they Should be treated with the utmo -it courtesy by everyone. - j In conclusion we hope other citizens will emulate tne example set by Mr. Stone, j until our main thoroughfares are all so attractive that these who live here will want f to stay, and those who come will want'to r:turn ! |
