Show SPRINGVILLE ART MOVE GETS SUPPORT By J. F. WING ATE The Art Committee of the High School was a happy recipient of a twenty-five dollar check last week. The donor was the Alpha Beta club of this city, nnd the amount will be turned into the Art fund, which is to he used in financing this year's exhibit. Not only did the club give J this ; but they also stated that they, i probably would give additional financial fin-ancial aid. The art committee is more thnn optimistic relative to the coming exhibit as individuals and onran-izations onran-izations have pledged their support, morally und financially. The Mothers' Study Club is planning plan-ning to present a bust of Dallin and the Ladies' Home Culture Club will donate a picture of Dr. George Smart, the father of the art movement move-ment in Springville. Both of these will make very valuable additions ro our collection arm i am sure tney will be d u ly a pp reci a t ed by the school and community. The Kiwanis Club has pledged itself it-self to raise $100, and to supplement this amount by aiding the art committee com-mittee in every way to make the coming exhibit bigger and better; than it has ever been before. It has long since been proven that commercially and educationally, educational-ly, art has been found worth while. Community builders have said that Springville, through her art project, has instituted a most unique system of advertising; and leading educators educa-tors have declared that nrt is in-disiK'tisable in-disiK'tisable for the teaching of culture cul-ture and refinement. The Springville Art Project has been discussed in nearly every city of the United States, and especially in educational circles and many letters let-ters of inquiry have been received. The value of the project has been carefully weighed in the balance by many and no one has offered adverse ad-verse criticism, but rather; ha1e they pronounced it "worth while." Recognizing these facts, it seems rather unfortunate that all steps have not been taken as yet to make the movement permanent. It is to be hoped that in the very near future fu-ture plans will be perfected whereby where-by this will be done. |
