Hofheins entertained at cards Wednesday evening for the following: Misses Marie and Erin Ward. Miss Coe IJeal and Mrs. Ivan Childs, and Mrs. Herman Spurgeon of Provo. Mrs. A. C. Bird is visiting in Salt Lake with her daughter. Mrs. Bradmar Snell was a guest Wednesday evening at a shower for Miss Stella Snell of Spanish Fork. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Dallin nnd Mr. and Mrs. Howard Howe, of Provo, Pro-vo, motored to Salt Lake to attend the "Humming Bird' at the Wilkes; they also spent Sunday in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Taylor entertained enter-tained at their home Thursday evening eve-ning iit a radio party, the following enjoyed it : Mr. and Mrs. Spender Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Beardall, Mr. and Mrs. .1. C. Niel-son, Niel-son, Mr. and Mrs. Will Flygare. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Blackett, Mr. and Mrs. James Giles. Mrs. Jim Miller. Mrs. Itufus Averett and her sister Jennie of Denver. Dainty luncheon was also served. Mrs. H. W. Bird was hostess to the Home Culture Club at her home last Friday, with twenty-one members mem-bers and six guests present. The vice president. Mrs. A. M. Lyall, had charge of the meeting. Mrs. F. C. Packard, of Salt Lake, sang three solos, accompanied by Mrs. Dazil Smith. A short sketch of the writings writ-ings of Edith Wharton was given by Mrs. Sarah Houtz, before Mrs. C..G. Salisbury read a story by the same author. A most interesting and instructive paper on health was given by Mrs. Ruth Ward Mum-fprd, Mum-fprd, city school nurse in Provo. ''A good book' was the response for Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Wordsworth will celebrate their golden wedding in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Welch visited Sunday in Salt Lake with Mrs. G. .H Welch. Mrs. Lucy Robertson is visiting her daughter in Pleasaut Grove, Mrs. Jessie Wadley. Mrs. A. W. Cherrington entertained entertain-ed at dinner Friday for Mrs. David Wheeler, Mrs. Dimiek Childs und Mrs. Walter Wheeler. Miss CapLola Cherrington was A guest last week of Mrs. Jack Beam-son Beam-son at Eureka. Mr. and , Mrs. Deal MeudenhalJ and children have returned to their home in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. Mrs. Marcellns Nielson entertained entertain-ed the members of the S. T. ctib at her home in Mapleton Thursday evening. Three tables of progressive progres-sive five hundred were played, with Mrs. Lee Sumsion winning high roil call. The meeting adjourned and the hostess served refreshments. Bishop Thomas Bailey and daughter daugh-ter Trenna, of Nephi, were the guests of Mrs. II. Lee Boyer Monday. Mon-day. The program that the Gleaner Girls guve in the Third ward was a grand success; it consisted of a pageant, pa-geant, dancing and refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Rolei'tson entertained at dinner Saturday evening eve-ning for Mr. and Mrs. Solon Wood and Miss Gladys and Miss Hortense Molten, of Brigham City. Miss Arlene Mendenhall entertained enter-tained Wednesday evening for the Wednesday Card Club at her home. The decorations were red and white carnations. Bridge was played, after which a dainty luncheon was served. The Beehive Girls of the Second ward entertained for the Boy Scouts score. Mrs. A. L. Garbett ' was voted a club member. Mrs. Ronald Thorpe and Mrs. Whiting were club guests. Luncheon was served at 11 o'clock. " Guy W. Mendenhall returned Friday Fri-day from his ranch in Raymond, Alberta, Al-berta, Canada. Miss Enid Mendenhall ciune down from Salt Lake and accompanied her pareuts to Fairview, where they spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Christensou. Miss Inez Jesse was a Salt Lake visitor Saturday. Mrs .Ada Jesse and Mrs. Charles Brown entertained the Second ward Sea Gull Girls at the formers' home Tuesday evening at a cundy pull. A very delightful evening was spent and a luncheon served to the twelve guests. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Miles, of Salt Lake, were the week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Jones. Miss Vernessa Hutchings and Miss Marie Rigtrip were Salt Lake visitors Sunday. Mrs. John S. Groesbeck returned Wednesday from Ogden, where she has been visiting her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Friel entertained enter-tained at Sunday dinner, in compliment compli-ment to Mr. and Mrs. Julian F. Greer, Miss Fawn nud Miss Fay Greer, and Mr. and Mrs. II. C. Snel-sou, Snel-sou, all of Provo. Mrs. Retta Harmer fwas very pleasantly surprised at her home Tuesday evening, Feb. 23, by her brothers and sisters, it being her birtbduy anniversary. A very enjoyable en-joyable eveuing was spent and a luucbeou was served to fifteen. John S. Boyer and Miss Mary Boyer motored to Ogdcu Friday. While there they visited relatives. Visits were also made to the State Industrial school and the Deaf aud Dumb school. at a banquet Feb. 22 in the base-I base-I nieut of the chapel, after Mutual. A very delightful time was had by all. Mrs. William Erdmnn, of Eureka, was a week-end guest of her mother, moth-er, Mrs. Eliza Thorn. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thorpe were Salt Lake visitors Mouday. Mrs. Wallace Mace was hostess to the Saturday afternoon card club at her home Saturday afteruoon. Decorations Dec-orations were yellow jonquils; the place cards and tally cards were painted yellow also. Luncheon was served at five small tables, after which progressive five hundred was played, with Mrs. Harry Reynolds winning club prize, Miss Catherine Dougall, guest prize, and Mrs. John Mendenhall draw prize. The guests were Mrs. V. S. Wilson, Mrs. Mack Dougall, Mrs. M. W. Bird and Miss Catherine Dougall. Mrs. J. E. Wonnacott has returned return-ed home after spending the past week with her daughter iu Soldier Mrs. Thedora Fullmer, of Eureka, spent the week-end with her sister, Mrs. A. O. Thorn. The Boosters Athletic club entertained enter-tained Monday evening at a bundle shower in honor of Mrs. Blanche G. Hales. Many beautiful presents were received.
