Sveeral Springville people motored to Salt Lake City Thursday of last week to at-tend the 'Tried and True' an-nual dinner party at the Art Barn. A total of 32 friends were in attendance and each told of her life and family and other things of personal inter-est. Attending from Springville were: Lela Packard, Nell Con-di- e, Effie Kelsey, Maria John-son,' Hannah Rowland, Cather-ine Wills. Mrs. Packard was Civic Opera Co. sets special program Friday Roy Samuelson, nationally-aclaime- d Provo baritone, will head the list of prominent vo-calists who will appear in a full evening of favorite oper-atic and musieal comedy selec-tions slated for 8:15 p.m. Fri-day in the Provo high school 3 rli tnvi um Mrs. Victor J. Bird, presi-dent of the Utah Valley Opera Association, said the program will bring together highlights from productions of recent years. Several ballet and mod-3r- n dance numbers will be presented in addition to more than 15 vocal solos, duets and chorus selections. One section of 300 seats has been reserved by the Sons of Utah Pioneers for delegates who will be attending the national encampment of the organization in Provo Aug. 16-1- 8, according to Dr. T. Earl Pardoe, of the program. The remaining 600 seats will be available to the public. Helen Weeks, Orem will sing selections from "Madam But-terfly" and "Carmen." Nowel Twitchel of Provo will sing an aria from "The Barber of Se-ville," and Dwight Ladle will sing a selection from "Car-men." William Peterson, of Peas-ant Grove, and LaRue Kirk, Orem, will sing "Some Enchan-ted Evening" and "I'm in love With a Wonderful Guy" from "South Pacific." A male chorus will also sing "Nothing Like a Dame" from the same show. Wanda Peterson, American Fork will join Maughn McMur-- , die, Orem, in the duet, "Raha-dlakum,- " from "Kismet." Mr ' McMurdie will also sing K ITALIAN to "Fate," and join Elaine Clark, Robert Taylor and Barlow White in the quartet number, "This is My Beloved" from the same show. Signed, Stanley Tipton Lynne Blackett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blackett of Hermosia Beach, Calif., has returned to her home after Mother of local man dies in Sa!t Lake City Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City Tuesday for Mrs. Josephine Amelia Black Gale, 81, mother of Perry Gale of this city, who died at her home, 35 Emery St., Salt Lake City, Thursday of last week. Mrs. Gale was born in Brig-ha- City, Ariz., a daughter of Wm. Grant and Lucretia Max-well Black. She married Al-bert" Gale, Sept. 5, 1901, in Fruitland, N. M. Their mar-riage was later solomnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Tile Gales lived in Springville about thirty years ago, moving from here to Salt Lake City. Mr. Gale died Sept 5, 1954. Surviving are seven sons: Perry Gale, Springville; Lee and Maxwell Gale of Salt Lake City; Rollo, Lon and Eugene Gale, Sacramento, Calif.; and Troy Gale in Wisconsin; two daughters: Mrs. Luther (.Lila) Brake, Provo and Mrs. George Thora) Johnson, Salt Lake City and foster daughter, Mrs. Ray (Beth) Black, Placerville, Calif; also 31 grandchildren and 50 great grendchildren. three weeks' vacation with her grandmother, Mrs. Hattie Wil-liams and other relatives and friends. She is getting ready to enter college this fall at Long Beach.
