The gift a civil war days type of muzzle-loading pis tol, Including all necessary equipment and case, has been hand made and is detailed to perfection. It was a gift of a friend, Har-." Har-." vey Draper of Ephraim 1 Springville man exhibits unique hand-made items piece and the same trim is on the gun and powder horn. Hinges from his grandmother's grandmo-ther's chest have been hammered ham-mered by the maker into pieces pie-ces of art and used on the case.. These were said to havf given him the idea for finishing finish-ing the gun case. Screws in the gun are fror air-craft bolts filed down and slotted with a hack-saw. The pistol barrel is a section from an old pioneer rifle. The lo.ck mechanism on the gun is made from pieces of scrap steel and part of an old car axel, while the chains on the chest, holding the lid are made from brass safety wire found on aircraft. The case, the gun and other pieces are all representative of many hours of tedious work but ai-e all highly praised by the owner who is proud to show them to anyone interested. The , result of an interesting hobby came into possession of Wm. R. Devenish of Springville recently, when he was presented present-ed with a replica of an old-time old-time muzzel-loaling pistol of Civil War days. The gun and case was a gift to Mr. Devenish in recognition of hjs reaching the million-mile million-mile record by plane, and was presented by a long-time friend Harvey Draper of Ephraim, who is also a gun enthusiast. The , case is fashioned from native walnut from a tree frown at Ephraim. and is all red velvet lined. The gun-stock gun-stock is also of similar walnut. wal-nut. Everything in the case including in-cluding the powder horn and bullet mold, are all hand made down to the last screw. The powder horn is polished to glass smoothness and the stopper serving as a powder measure, is made from a rifle shell. The bullet mold is from scraps of brass and an old hinge with tiny deer horn handles. Polished brass and sterling silver trim the case.
