Show Summer Festival opens June 30 in U of U Bowl The University of Utah's Stadium Bowl is being polished polish-ed up for the exciting 1961 Summer Festival the fourteenth. four-teenth. First show will be the Broadway Broad-way musical, "Destry Rides Again," scheduled for June 30, July 1 and July 3 through 8. Music and lyrics are by Harold Rome and book by Leon Ger-she. Ger-she. Star of the show will be Dennis Day, nationally-known radio, television, and recording personality. Members of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the University of Utah Theater Ballet Co. will also play important im-portant parts in the Broadway smash. The second of the two summer sum-mer festivals will open July 13, 15, and 17 and will be the popular opera, "Carmen." Bizet's Bi-zet's all-time favorite will star Jean Maderia and Brian Sullivan Sulli-van with prominent Utah singers sing-ers in the supporting roles. They will be backed by members mem-bers of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the University Theater Ballet Co. Thousands of persons from throughout Utah, the inter- mountain area, and afar, annually an-nually attend the Sumemr Festival Fes-tival shows.
