Over 200 relatives and friends called to express birth-day wishes and she was the recipient of many lovely gifts. Present for the birthday were her two daughters and three sons including John Wells Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and his family; also Mark and Louis Johnson, Mrs. Joe Miller and Mrs. Thorn and their families. Also a sister, Mrs. Blanch Lee of Hollywood, Calif., was among the out-of-to- rela-tives to help celebrate the birthday. and family, who I moved to Salt I were guests at parents, Mr. and f 0 Mar Weight, Sun, ' K , the Weight ho Mrs. Wayne Wilde and new d 1 came from Salt Lav the Weight reuniTM, Summer Festival opens June 30 in U of U Bowl The University of Utah's Stadium Bowl is being polish-ed up for the exciting 1961 Summer Festival the four-teenth. First show will be the Broad-way musical, "Destry Rides Again," scheduled for June 30, July 1 and July 3 through 8. Music and lyrics are by Harold Rome and book by Leon Ger-sh- e. Star of the show will be Dennis Day, nationally-know- n radio, television, and recording personality. Members of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the University of Utah Theater Ballet Co. will also play im-portant parts in the Broadway smash. The second of the two sum-mer festivals will open July 13, 15, and 17 and will be the popular opera, "Carmen." Bi-zet's all-tim- e favorite will star Jean Maderia and Brian Sulli-van with prominent Utah sing-ers in the supporting roles. They will be backed by mem-bers of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the University Theater Ballet Co. Thousands of persons from throughout Utah, the inter- - mountain area, and afar, an-nually attend the Sumemr Fes-tival shows. Three people get MIA awards Sunday Three young people of Kolob stake were given special awards at the MIA session of quarterly conference Sunday evening. Master M Man awards were presented to Gary J. Boyack of the Twelfth ward and Hal Burrows of the First ward for their outstanding achievements in the MIA program. The pre-sentation was made by Super-intendent Glendon Johnson of Kolob stake. Mrs. Gary J. Boyack was the recipient of the Golden Glean-er award which was presented by YWMIA President Lora Whiting of the stake. y i s " n! I 1 - i Mi', and Mrs. W. E. Dunn who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House Sunday July 2. Mr., Mrs. W. E. Dunn to celebrate golden wedding at open house Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Dunn, lifelong residents of Spring-vill- e residing at 45 So. 1st East, will celebrate their Gol-den Wedding Anniversary Sun-day, July 2 and they will be honored at a garden reception to be held at the home of their daughter and son-in-la- Mr. and Mrs. Frank Larabee, 330 North 7th East. Receiving will be from 7 to 10 p.m. and they wish to invite their relatives, neigh-bors and friends and friends of family members. They request no gifts. Edward Dunn was bom in Eureka, March 7, 1892, the only son of William and Harriet Collard Dunn. His wife, Jennie Packard Dunn was born in Springville, June 6, 1893, a daughter of Dudley and Fran-ces Messenger Packard. She was and received her education in Burlington, Wyo. The couple were married in 1911 and came to Springville a few years later where Mr. Dunn was in the garage busi-ness for 34 years, retiring 13 years ago. Unable to content himself with retirement he now oper-ates a shop at his home where he works each day and also en-joys gardening. Mrs. Dunn en-joys Relief Society and is a Visiting Teacher in her ward. They are members of the Sen-ior Citizens Dancing Club and seldom miss a weekly dance. They are parents of 10 chil-dren, 9 of them living. Mrs. Juanita Larabee, Mrs. Frances Stone, Mrs. Beverly Montague, Elmer Dunn and Raymond Dunn of Springville; Mrs. Eva Nelson of Orem; Mrs. Norma Smith of Tooele; William P. Dunn of Mill Valley, Calif, and Norman Dunn of Haywood, Calif. They also have 34 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Past presidents at summer party The lovely garden at the home of Mrs. Clara Sumsion was the scene of a summer evening for party Tuesday past presidents of the Legion Auxiliary. Assisting Mrs. Sum-sion with the party were Mrs. Helen Crandall and Mrs. Mar-v- a Davis. Twenty four were in attendance. A nicely arranged buffet luncheon was served and later games were played with prizes going to Mrs. Emma Long and Mrs. Hazel Roylance. Other guests included: Lela Nelson. Mary Weight, Inez Chader, Vilate Reynolds, Mable Brown, Olive Miller, Floss Phillips, Manila Brown, Julia Sumsion, Marjorie Frandsen, Cleonda Miner, Zola Gogarty, LaPriel Friel, Florence Boyer, Ruby Christensen, Margaret Campbell, Nellie Burt, Belle Sumsion, Anna Mae Wardle, and the hostesses. - Life nsu. Fourteen members including seven new ones, Barbara Mar-tai- n, Mary Allman, Deanna Rigtrup, Pat Paris, Ann Sue Palfreyman, Col-leen Jensen, attended. Copies of the club by-la-were distributed and plans were discussed for a public dance to help raise funds for bleachers for Memorial Park. Plans were also announced for a work meeting to be Fri-day at the City Park and the meeting concluded with re-freshments. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stone and family of four children of Long Beach, Calif., are spend-ing a few days here with re-latives and friends and are house guests at Mrs. Stone's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Da-vis. Clyde stopped in to the Herald office to say hello and to subscribe to the paper for his father whom he reported is recovering from a heart attack suffered in May, at his Long Beach home. The eldest daughter of the Stone's will remain with her grandmother and other cousins for the next six weeks before returning to California. Myrtle Bird and her son Tom visited three days last week at Tremonton, guests of the Gar-net Abel family, former resi-dents of Springville. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover this week are: Mrs. Wm. C. Hunt and daughter, Miss Grace Hunt and Mrs. Lucille Seidler all of Milwaukee, Wis.
