J t. . n.-J Pictured above is the winning Third ward M Men club, champions of the Springville stake with a 12-0 record. They are coached by Leo Conk with Ronald Thorpe assisting. They play at 7:15 in the Springville gym the first nightN of the tourney. Members are, front row: Kent Huntsman, Gordon Wight, Calvin Thorpe (with trophy), Roy Edwards, Benny Fietkau. Back row: Mr. Thorpe, Mark Hoover, LaVar Engle, Garth Nelson, Serge Nelson, George Hone, and coach Conk. the meet will be the stake champion Second ward team coached by Fay Jacobson. They won the championship by defeating de-feating Twelfth in their final game last week 61-52. Maple-ton Maple-ton placed second and will also al-so be representing the stake in the meet. Second ward will play the 8:30 game in the Springville gym next Wed. against the Emery stake first place team. Mapleton will play the 9:45 game at Spanish Fork against the Carbon stake lst place team. Springville stake will be represented rep-resented in the meet by the strong Third ward quintet. They will play in the Springville Spring-ville gym at 7:15 the opening night and will meet the second place Carbon stake club. Seventh Sev-enth ward which took second in the Springville stake play, opens the tournament at Spanish Span-ish Fork at 6 p.m. against the Deseret stake lst place team. Brackets for the meet can be found elsewhere in this page. Season tickets are being sold this year at a considerable savings sav-ings according to Louis Clegg, tournament director. These tickets can be procured at the door or from Mr. Clegg at Mapleton; Frank Buffo, Niel Bona, or Robert Martell, all of Spanish Fork. |
