Show Interesting subjects at club meetings Ladies Literary Club members mem-bers were guests of Mrs. Harold Har-old Christensen Thursday evening, even-ing, with President Rea Straw in charge. Following a nicely arranged tray luncheon, Mrs. Claude Smith gave a most interesting in-teresting paper on "Our First Ladies." She placed special emphasis on the lives of Martha Mar-tha Washington, Abigal Adams of the early era of American history, and on Mamie Eisenhower Eisen-hower and Jacqueline Kennedy. She exhibited a miniature replica rep-lica of the White House and magazine pictures of the president's presi-dent's wives added interest to the topic. The preceding meeting of the club was at the home of Mrs. E. T. Crandall, where Mrs. Berton Groesbeck gave the life and works of Mark Twain and read some of his short stories. President Rea Straw conducted con-ducted short business. The meeting was preceded with a delicious luncheon, the hostess being assisted by her sister, Mrs. Mary Schwartz. |
