Show Funeral rites held for Mapleton man Funeral services were conducted con-ducted Saturday at Mapleton for Jack Medved, 79, who died Wednesday evening of last week at the Utah Valley Hospital Hos-pital of a long illness. Interment was in the Evergreen Ever-green cemetery, directed by Berg Mortuary. Mr. Medved was born May 24, 1881, in Austria, a son of Mat and Helen Malachik Medved. Med-ved. He married Mary Strakey Nov. 7, 1909, in Sunnyside, Utah. He came to the United States in 1906, living first in Milwaukee, Wis., and then moved to Sunnyside in 1908. In 1915 he moved to Center-ville, Center-ville, Iowa, returning to Carbon Car-bon County later where he was employed as a miner. He moved mov-ed to Mapleton in 1927 where he has been a fruit farmer for many years. He was a charter member of the Slovine National Benefit Society, Austrian Lodge 296. He was one of the two remaining re-maining charter members and had been a member for 50 years. He was a member of United Mineworkers Union. He and Mrs. Medved had celebrated cele-brated their 50th wedding anniversary. an-niversary. He is survived by his wife; four sons and three daughters, Frank Medved, Las Vegas; William (Bill) Medved of San Francisco; Tony Medved of Provo; Fred Medved of Maple-ton; Maple-ton; Mrs. Don (Josephine) Kil-patrick Kil-patrick of San Francisco; Mrs. J. D. (Connie) Dalton and Mrs. Lee (Colleen) Snelson, both of Springville; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. It is more shameful to distrust dis-trust our friends than to be deceived by them.
