Show Student given $2000 to further study Garth L. Tingey, 28, of Bel-lefonte, Bel-lefonte, Pa., has received a $2,000 graduate fellowship grant from Allied Chemical's Plastics Division. A physical chemistry major, Mr. Tingey is studying for his doctor of philosophy degree at Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pa. The award is part of a $500,-000 $500,-000 aid-to-education program given by Allied Chemical during dur-ing the 1960-61 academic year. The purpose of the Company's Com-pany's program is to provide greater financial assistance to students of outstanding ability and to educational institutions. Both private and tax-supported schools participate in the program. pro-gram. Eligible for the fellowships are students who have displayed dis-played a special aptitued for research. Selection is made by the schools, not by Allied Chemical. Che-mical. A graduate of Springville High School, Garth received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from BYU in 1954 and a master of science degree de-gree at BCU in 1959. |
