Eight teams represent four states 1 One of the biggest sporting events of the year will be held here all next week in the form of the Pony League district 6 baseball tournament which will be staged at Memorial Park field August 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Because of the importance of the event here, Mayor J. Em-mett Em-mett Bird has proclaimed August Aug-ust 2 to 6 as Pony League Tournament Week in Springvilie Spring-vilie and asks the citizens to do everything necessary to make visiting teams welcome during their week's stay here. Over 120 boys will be in Springvilie vieing in the 8 team double elimination meet which will crown its winner Saturday, August 6. This winner win-ner will go to the regional tournament at Richland, Wash, to vie for the title and then on to the finals at Washington, Pa. Dr. Kenneth Creer is directing di-recting the meet here. The tournament will be kicked kick-ed off Monday night, Aug. 1, with a players' banquet at 8 p.m. at the Springvilie Junior High School with Edgel Old-royd Old-royd chairmaning the event. Special dignitaries, including These ball players will represent Springvilie Spring-vilie in the Pony League tournament which opens here Tuesday.
