The tea replaced the regular weekly meeting which would have been tonight. Special guests at the func-tion were Vernon Cook, retir-ing president; Berton Groes-- beck, retiring Eldon Reese, who served as secretary and has been and Oliver Dalton, a director; also Wilbur Snelson, LaVar Cloward, Roland Old-roy- d, George Bird, Merle Sar-gent, Arthur Boyer, Glenn Coffman, who served the past year as directors. Wives of the retiring officers were also spe-cial guests. Special invitations were also given to new members: Clar-ence Jensen, Glenn Tipton, Howard Ivory, LuDean Litster, Ruel Crandall and their wives to attend the tea. A large group of club mem-bers and their partners attend-ed the function which was highlighted by glistening holi-day motifs and New Year greetings. Mr. Maycock and other new-ly elected club leaders will take over their respective positions after the January installation meeting. Springville Couple Takes Vows In Home Wedding Christmas Eve In a holiday setting complete with Christ- mas tree and wedding bells charming Miss Ann Lhnstensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Del- - mome unnstensen recited-vow- s with Phil Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smith also of Springville, Christmas eve. The ceremony was perform-ed by the bride's father, Bish-op DelMoine Christensen of the Twelfth ward, in the soft glow of candles at the home of an aunt, Mrs. Helen Anderson, in the presence of immediate fam-ily members and close friends. Attired in a wedding gown of lace and chiffon with fitted bodice and long lace sleeves, the bride carried a bouquet consisting of a white orchid surrounded with white garden-ias. Her finger-ti- p veil fell from a crown of seed pearls. Her only attendants were Miss Karen Holdaway and Susan Christensen, sister of the bride. Best man to the groom was his friend, Kenneth Norton. The young couple was hon-ored with an informal recep-tion and buffet luncheon im-mediately after the ceremony with approximately sixty-fiv- e guests in attendance. Both are graduates of the Springville High School and LDS Seminary and Ann has been attending Snow College. They are making their home in Salt Lake City, where Phil is employed. They; were married December 22 1909. Mr. Crandall, whose parents were early residents of this city, is a son of John and Julia Sumsion Crandall. He has worked most of his life on con-struction in this and other states and is presently em-ployed by the city. Mrs. Harriet Kindred Cran-dall is the only member of her immediate family living. Her parents were Nephi and Annie Kindred also early Springville settlers. She has always taken a special pride in her home and family and has worked in Re-lief Society. The couple has two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Ralph Young (Josephine) of Peters-burg, Alaska; Mack Crandall of Ogden; Mrs. O. S. Carter (Ruth) of Provo and Nate Crandall of Springville. There are also 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Crandall also has three sisters living: Mrs. Lula Men-denha- ll of Springville; Mrs. Ann Stevenson of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Susan Hannigan in California. i ! Maurine Ivory Engaged to Wed Larsen Boyer in Spring Ceremony Spring wedding plans are being made by a well-know- n Springville couple, Miss Maurine Ivory, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard M. Ivory and Larsen S. Boyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Boyer. The date has not as yet been set. The charming bride-elec- t, presently an instructor in kindergarten at Spanish Fork, is a graduate of Utah State University where she also graduated from the LDS Institute of Religion. Previously she graduated from Snow College at Ephraim and from Springville High School and LDS Seminary. Larsen completed two years at Brigham Young Uni-versity before filling an LDS mission in the East Central States. He is also a graduate of the local high school and LDS Seminary and plans to enroll in January at BYU to continue his studies rioted . . . Together for the first time in four years, the Arthur C. Boyer family has spent a most enjoyable time during the holi-days. Mr. and Mrs. DuWayne H. Donithorne (Pauline) and sons, Dennis and Delane came from Ukiah, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Randall (Ruth) and daughter Mary Lou from North Ogden to join other members Larsen S., who re-cently returned from the East-ern States mission and Naomi, who is attendmg the BYU. After a ten-da- holiday va-cation with relatives and friends in Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Smoot and two daughters left by plane Mon-day for their home in Seattle, Wash., being accompanied to Salt Lake by Mrs. Smoot's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bird. Doug will receive his Doctor's degree in chemical en-gineering in June from the University of Washington where he has been enrolled the past three years on a fellow-ship. While in Utah, he was interviewed by Hercules Corp. in Salt Lake City and has had several other offers for posi-tions in various parts of the country. Mr. and Mrs. John Eves and Mr. and Mrs. Alton Johnson came from Salt Lake City Sun-day to visit their mother, Mrs. Erva Childs and other rela-tives before the funeral ser-vices for their grandmother, Mrs. Caroline Carling at Fill-more Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hanson were Christmas Day dinner ' guests at the home of their son and daughter-in-la- Mr. and Mrs. Almon Harmer in Payson. Pvt. Milan F. Boyer came by plane from Aberdeen, Md., to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Boyer and family. He finished basic training on his en-listment at Fort Ord, Calif., Nov. 27, and was then trans-ferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds for schooling and training in mechanics. A number of Springville re-latives were at a holiday buf-fet supper at the home of cou-sins, Mr. and Mrs. James Gor-niche- c at Orem Monday even-ing, including Mr. and Mrs Bert Palfreyman, Mrs. Zelma Beardall, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Danielson, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ash, Mr. and Mrs. Max Bear-dall. Also in attendance were two brothers of the hostess, Sterling and Richard Forsythe and wives of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carne-secc- a of Mapleton have as their holiday guests a niece Marlene Mills of Iomita, Calif., and Mrs. Mattye Mills. After the holidays Mrs. Mills plans to go back east for an ex-tended stay. Mrs. A. G. Fiets Bien Club Has Holiday Party Twenty two members of the Fiets Bien club including those inactive, assembled at the home of Mrs. Beverly Metcalf for their Christmas party on Thursday of last week. Mrs. LaRae Bissell was The entertaining rooms were beautiful for the occasion gaily lighted and with a variety of artistically arranged Christmas motifs. Tiny Christmas trees were used as table centerpieces corresponding to the larger one near the window. Lunch was served early and the time later was spent with games with an exchange of gifts climaxing the party. Les Couquettes Hold Christmas Party The December meeting of the Les Couquettes club was held the evening of Dec. 16 at the home of Mrs. Peggy Allan, with Mrs. Carol Reed and Mrs. Marilyn Harris as A Christmas reading was given by Mrs. Carol Reed. Games were played, and pre-sents were exchanged around the fireplace. Individual stock-ings filled with prizes, were gi-ven to each guest, along with their refreshments. Family Enjoys Christmas Dinner Mr .and Mrs. A. W. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Averett have returned to their home in Delta, Colo., following a few days visit in Springville and Provo. They came especially to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Averett's brother, Cloyt Kay, a former resident of Springville, who died in Provo a few days before Christmas. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Amasa Rowland Christ-mas eve were members of their family in Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bagley and children, Dan Jr., Steven and Annette and Miss Sharon Bona of Mapleton. Mrs. Lee Steffens went to Cody, Wyo., to spend the Christmas holidays with her husband, who is employed near that city. Lt. Phil Haymond, stationed with the Marine Air Force in Los Angeles, Calif., and his brother-in-la- Keith Myers of San Diego, returned to their homes this week after a holi-day visit with Phil's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Haymond and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Myers, the former Paula Haymond, and little daughter, will stay a few days longer and return home later by plane. Mrs. Estella Wixom enjoyed a visit from her daughters and sons-in-la- w over-th- e Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Haydock came from Tarzana, California to spend a few days and Mr. and Mrs. P. Jaycees Entertained At Holiday Party Springville Jaycee Wives en-tertained at a Christmas party for their husbands at Melody Inn Saturday evening in the form of a dinner-danc- e and program. Sam Francis, accompanied by Betty Clark, entertained with vocal selections during the evening. Special guests at the party were Rosa Maycock, Fred Lew-is of Logan; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Boren of Orem and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Willis of this city. The guests were seated at long tables for dinner and each table was beautifully decorated with pink net trees and white candles. Mrs. Lois Gueir and her color group were in charge of arrangements for the party attended by a large group of Jaycees and their wives. Student Pledged To Social Fraternity James D.
