I - 1 r-- L HA H in i ml Members of the 12th ward Saturday nailed the last few boards on a huge chicken coop which they built for Marvin J. Curtis at 1096 South, Fourth East, as a fund raising project for their new church. The coop marked the completion of a fund-raisin- g building project, in which man practically every of the ward participated. Included in the project was the moving of a number of buildings from the BYU campus. Ward Completes Summer Project of the ward, which is already planning new projects to raise more funds for their new church building. Some have put in as many as 200 or more hours since the project began last July. Machinery and various pieces of equipment to use in the building program has been donated. Even men not mem-bers of the ward, have assist-ed with some of the more tech-nical parts of the work. Now and in the years to come members of the ward can point with pride to the homes and other buildings which have been built the past few months through the cooperative effort Blanch M. Condle Dies in SLC Blanch Mendenhall Condie, wife of Richard P. Condie, di-rector of the Tabernacle choir and a former resident of Springville, died Wednesday in Salt Lake City following a long illness. She was born in Springville, a daughter of S. L. and Mary L. Mendenhall and spent her early life here, graduating from the Springville high school. She graduated from college and taught school before her mar-riage to Mr. Condie. They lived in Boston, Mass., for a time and also in Paris, France, while Mr. Condie was studying for his music career. He served a two-ye- ar LDS mission in California from 1907-0- He married Susan Camilla Woodbury Sept. 5, 1910 in the St. George Temple. He and his wife filled a five-ye- ar LDS mission at the St. George Temple as officiating ordinance workers. He was a high priest. He was secretary-treasur- er of Canal Co. in LaVerkin, and LaVerkin Sanitorium. He also operated a theater in Hurri-cane for a number of years! He was assistant to his fath-er, who was president of the Utah Horticultural Society and they displayed fruits and nuts at exhibits in San Diego, Albu-querque, Sacramento and var-ious other places. Mr. Judd and his wife have lived in Utah all their lives ex-cept for five years when they were called to colonize Lund, Nevada. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Dr. Clair W. Judd of Springville and Dr. Thomas R. Judd of Spanish Fork; one daughter, Mrs. Grant (Ruth) Excell of Ogden; one brother, James Judd of LaVerkin; two sisters, Mrs. Wilford (Kate) Thompson of LaVerkin and Mrs. Ella Lund of St. George and 11 grandchildren. PTA Schedules Wednesday Meets by Lois Anderson The Lincoln schol will hold a PTA meeting Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Phyllis Jacobson, Teacher Training Supervisor for Elementary Education at BYU. She will speak on "The Athletic Program in Grade School," explaining the possi-bilities of physical development and the value of physical edu-cation in the elementary school. The Brookside school will hold a PTA meeting Wednes-day, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Dr. Mary Kri-d- er of BYU Educational Re-search Dept. She received her degrees at Wayne University, Detroit, Mich. Her subject will be "The Gifted Child Pro-gram." Public Invited to Meet For Youth Fitness Talk (Continued from Page One.) mittee has met weekly since Sept. 8, to investigate and dis-cuss program possibilities with the committee in educational, recreation and legal fields, on police angles, pornographic li-terature and other subjects. Following the meeting next Monday evening, a partial sur-vey will be made to gain opin-ions on suggested programs. One of the major purposes of the group is to sponsor classes during the summer months. These will be classes of a remedial nature, speech correction, vocational type clas-ses, music, art and others. |
